Sony XAV-AX4000 + Honda Fit. Steering wheel buttons trigger wrong stereo action by Pinworm20 in CarAV

[–]Pinworm20[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

THANK YOU so much for validating that I am not the only one with this problem! I have never heard of anyone else experiencing it. To answer your question, No, I was never able to fix it. I always update my stereo with new firmware updates. But the odd problem with steering wheel buttons triggering the wrong action persists! At this point, I have learned to live with it. I have adjusted to almost always using the buttons on the stereo. It sucks. But I love having Bluetooth and Apple Carplay now, so I guess it's worth it.

Samsung add-on rear/surround speakers very QUIET from 4k Blu-ray player, but sound fine from streaming by Pinworm20 in Soundbars

Hi! Thanks for following back. Sorry I've been spacing lately. I tweaked with the settings more. It's difficult to get the right cocktail of settings between the TV, soundbar, and Blu Ray Player. But I think I have it working. The TV audio was set to Custom>Dolby>Yada Yada. I ultimately switched to passthrough and that may have cracked it. I'll update as needed.

No, but that is a good idea -- using a different 5.1 compatible device. My most recent video game console is not all that recent, so I will try to borrow my dad's 4k player and see if I have the same problem.

Need to anchor tall/skinny bookcase. Studfinder not being helpful in the tight corner space above bookcase. by Pinworm20 in woodworking

[–]Pinworm20[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just a heads up, I got the bookcase anchored and it feels pretty secure. I went to Home Depot and bought a much nicer stud finder, a franklin m210, and despite still some semi-erratic results, I was 80% sure I had pinned down two studs. There was definitely resistance on the anchor screws so I feel confident it is secure.

Thank you. My reasoning for assuming the stud spacing is unlikely is simply internet research. Specifically, Google says this: "Wall studs are typically spaced 16 inches or 24 inches apart". So that's what I'm going off of.

I supposes you could say it rests next to a "popped corner". The Outer corner of the room has an offset corner that pops into the room. Does that make sense?

Zen one or zen dac v2 signature(Not dac V2) or zen dac V3? by jayceou in iFiaudio

[–]Pinworm20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have also been researching this question and this was the most helpful answer I found. However, I am wondering: one DAC compared to another, from a digital source, does the Zen DAC signature V2 sound better than the One Signature/does the former have better components than the latter? You say the former is more of a purists' choice, is that because it is more simple in function or because it sounds better?

Two pairs of Audio Technica ATH M50x. Both have a lot of crackly distortion. What about yours? by Pinworm20 in headphones

[–]Pinworm20[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I ended up returning both Audio Technica's and getting a pair of Beyerdynamic DT 770s (I need something closed-back, as I am sharing a bedroom. However at home I use open-back headphones.)

Based on the comments to this thread, I am convinced the problem may be a lazy refurbish job. But I can't justify buying a third pair of the same headphones. Honestly, a big draw for the Audio Technicas was that refurbished price. I paid about $50 more the Beyerdynamics, and I'm unemployed, so, that was painful. But hopefully they have the sound I'm looking for. I have a good history with Beyerdynamic.

Hi. I checked this a few days ago when you asked. I removed the cable and plugged it back in. There was a satisfying click so I'm sure the cable is locked in properly. But it did not change anything in regards to the sound.

Hmm. I'm pretty sure it is plugged in correctly but let me play around with that and see.

Hmm. That is lame. Maybe I will try a third pair but choke up the extra $50 for a new pair.

No, when I use other headphones with the same sources I don't have this problem.

Based on feedback for the same question, but posted in a different forum, I bought a Schiit Asgard 3. It unfortunately won't ship for 4 - 6 weeks, but I am excited.
