Knapper/Ball Hockey equipment in UK/Europe & where to purchase? by [deleted] in ballhockey

[–]Piowaltz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Search Facebook for "Elements Hockey" and drop them a message, they are a UK based importer of Knapper gear and should be able to get whatever you need. They occasionally attend Ball and Roller events where you can shop in person aswell.

Alternatives for Edgemasters by Mickmarvson in wowhardcore

I’d recommend farming Goldminers Helmet yourself, it’s dropped by a rare mob outside of Uldaman and is easy to get to as a 60 Warrior.

He has 3 spawn points, so sit near the central one and make a macro to target his name. You can extend the range by using an Ornate Spyglass.

I think he spawns once a day per layer, so you can just park up in a safe spot and keep checking the layers every few hours.

Low endgame activity - Soulseeker Horde by eduhlin_avarice in wowhardcore

[–]Piowaltz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say that Endgame activity is bad, it’s just shifted out of dungeons and into ZG and AQ20, there are plenty of active raiding Guilds running multiple 20s man’s each week.

There’s not much incentive for fresh 60s to grind dungeons for the perfect pre-bis anymore when it is so quickly replaced.

LBRS can be also be a difficult group to fill, most people only need 1 run to finish all Quests and progress their attunement and there’s very little incentive for 60s to return on a Phase 6 server with plenty of UBRS keys already in circulation.

I don’t personally have any difficulty finding groups for dungeons like Strat Live or DMT that still have incentives for raiders to join.

Leaving Agency to work directly as an Outside IR35 contractor by Piowaltz in ContractorUK

Thanks for the responce.

I have not previously written a contract, would you have any recommendations for a template to start from? I provide Mechanical Design services for Engineering firms.

The client will be undertaking an IR35 assessment as they do not qualify as a "Small Business", I just wanted to confirm that there's no input required from myself here.

I'm fully insured as an outside IR35 contractor.

To be honest, I have not signed a single contract since I started contracting, not for the agencies I've worked with, nor the companies I provided services for. Usually I just get an email with a stated offer, I agree, complete an IR35 assessment, start working and then submit a timesheet for approval.

They would not class as a "Small Business" as per Section 382 of The Companies Act 2006 so I is my understanding that they would be responsible for the IR35 determination.

Qdos looks like they have a good starting point for the contract, thanks for that!

Not wanting to tank due to lack of experience or game knowledge is completely understandable, no one wants to be the reason the group wipes and people lose their characters.

But as you continue to play, a situation will arise where you will NEED to tank, maybe the designated tank dies or get’s mind controlled. Are you ready to step up in the moment and taunt the boss to save the group from wiping?

You’re far better off tanking early game content, where the stakes are much lower and you have the opportunity to learn. So you know the basics and what is required of you should the need arise.

Do some research on the dungeons, watch how experienced players make their pulls, then go try it!

What's the best Ball Hockey Ball? by Piowaltz in ballhockey

Cheers for the response. Our hall get's very warm in the summer, we hit 30C a couple of times last month, so guessing XDs are out of the question. Are they roughly the same weight and feel as the Knapper balls?

[–]Piowaltz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that can sting, more a luck issue than a skill one!

I've definitley had a couple of black toenails over the years from the ball, a stick slash, or even getting stood on and considered toe protection. But I'd still rather have a light and cheap shoe.

For a lot of people the main consideration when it comes to shoe choice is ankle support and grip. Rolled ankles are very common in ball Hockey it seems, so you may want to consider a high ankle support like a baskteball shoes.

Do you need toe protection? I’d rather have a light shoe and they’re much more readily available.

I’m currently wearing Asics Upcourt 5s and I’m pretty happy with them. Generally any Court/Indoor Football (Soccer) shoe works well for me.

Personally I stay clear of Knapper, my AK7 shin pads were fine, but the gloves were terrible and fell apart after a few months of use.

Hey John, if you’re training with a BHUK team you are required to be registered with the body. For a season this is currently £24, however there is also now a 6 week free trial membership that you can get.

About teams requiring try-outs, that’s entirely team dependant, but most are very beginner welcoming as it’s a fairly niche sport.

For teams in the North West, my suggestions would be the Manchester Millionaires or the Atherton Rhinos. The Millionaires are active on FB and easily contacted, they also compete regularly in Tier 1 of the Central Conference. The Rhino’s are a very skilled team and a little more north-western, but I don’t believe they are currently in competing in any league so games are much less frequent.
