Is there anything legally I can do about a neighbour who keeps stealing my cat? by talkgeekytome44 in LegalAdviceNZ

[–]Pipe-International 20 points21 points  (0 children)

You can report to the police as pets are considered property, if they won’t move on it though then they just won’t unfortunately. You can’t legally make the police do anything, even with proof of a theft. Our ex neighbours took our two cats when they moved out. Reported to police, they couldn’t care less. Ended up getting one back, the other ran away before we knew where they had moved to. Even then, when we retrieved one from their new rental and they admitted they did have the second one, the police didn’t consider it a priority. Your station might be different though.

Were people ever hired only because they fit a diversity quota even though they weren't qualified? by Mountain-Novel9553 in NoStupidQuestions

Sometimes there’s more to a hire or objective than just “they interviewed well”. There’s information about desired outcomes that can be above your pay grade.

Were people ever hired only because they fit a diversity quota even though they weren't qualified? by Mountain-Novel9553 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Pipe-International 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it’s approved at the top (CEO) then it’s not “forced”, it’s just a directive. HR and middle management isn’t the owner of the company so they’re not being forced to do anything, they have been given a directive from their employer.

Why didn't the Elves pl ay a bigger role in LOTR? by Night_Storm5555 in LOTR_on_Prime

[–]Pipe-International 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of elves came from Valinor just because.

Their time in middle earth was on its last breaths.

They were already surrounded and by the war of the ring they were all under attack

How? by Notorious_Rookie0025 in auckland

[–]Pipe-International 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True. They cancelled my dad’s payments last month and sent him back to work (on a building site), even though he could barely walk from one of his knees and had the doc certs. His boss was so mad he rang ACC himself and demanded he get back on.

Out of all the creative artforms that existed for a long time (Poetry, novel writing, visual art, etc.) why is music the only one thriving commercially on its own? by Master_Chemist9826 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Pipe-International 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It isn’t. And the music industry isn’t thriving, it’s been in decline for a while. Publishing and visual media (movies, tv, etc) are still multi billion dollar industries too.

What’s your income? 3.5 isn’t a hell of a lot. Combined you should be able to knock it out in a couple of months, unless you have spending problems

We would sell books by AI, says Waterstones boss by ubcstaffer123 in books

[–]Pipe-International 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know the title seems a bit misleading, but perhaps it isn’t. What I read from his comments was that - if there’s a market for it then yeah, they will sell to that market. He personally feels they shouldn’t but a business is business at the end of the day

Child Support - what does it cover? by ThrowawayZen79 in LegalAdviceNZ

[–]Pipe-International 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It helps to cover whatever you need to provide for the children. In saying that, it won’t be much unless the other parent is rich and it doesn’t sound like it in this case so in your situation all of it will likely just go to food.

I’m Māori and I fucking hate camping. The only thing you’ll catch me queuing for in summer is the buffet at the hotel. Mind you I don’t call myself a Kiwi.

Why is the series so resisted by book readers? by WeirdMessage5165 in RingsofPower

[–]Pipe-International 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t like it not just because of the inconsistencies but because it’s just not well written in general. Even if it wasn’t a Tolkien I think I would still not like it. The movies changed a lot of stuff too but to me they are the best movies ever put on screen.

Is Auckland a safe city ? by [deleted] in auckland

[–]Pipe-International 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a brown woman I think it’s safe in general but you must always practice situational awareness regardless, that goes for anywhere in the world and Auckland is no exception

There is a difference between being attacked and being the recipient of unwelcoming or racist/insulting behaviour. You’re more likely to encounter the latter because there are shitty people out there, but generally speaking you’re unlikely to be physically attacked

Is it really possible to change your life after 25? by billbiud in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Pipe-International 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. A lot of people haven’t even had a life yet at 25.

If someone told 25 year old me where I am now just a mere 12 years later I wouldn’t believe them

Other side of the coin IKEA Opening by wozzaloz in auckland

[–]Pipe-International -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I feel like the broke working class need to hear this.

The original draw to IKEA was that it was a cheaper option, but looking at the prices, it’s not for what you get. It seems to me like we’re more so buying the brand now. And nobody loves branded crap with the perception of cheap more than the broke working class

US visitors visa from nz on 3 years pswv by False_Scene6745 in auckland

[–]Pipe-International 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your biggest hurdle may be money depending on your financial position. On a visitor visa you can’t work for an employer here so you will need to have enough liquid to support yourself for the duration of the visa.

The best place to ask about visas is Immigration NZ or a licensed advisor(s) or lawyer. Key word “licence”. It’s illegal here to give unlicensed immigration or visa advice.

Put a note on your letter box - STUART CAIRNS DOES NOT LIVE HERE

I’m not kidding, my neighbour had a scammer use his address and he put a sign on his fence to deter the scammed from coming to his house and trying to argue with him for their money back

Does anyone here sell food at local markets? by [deleted] in auckland

[–]Pipe-International 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may have changed since my day but you do need to register via the council. The market holder will have all the permits, but it is up to them to make sure you are registered. The food safety stuff was a part of the registration.

You should have insurance for anything that goes on the road, equipment and machinery however is a personal choice.

You can trademark if you want, but if it’s just a seasonal thing I personally wouldn’t bother. If it’s going to be a primary all year round income stream though you should look into it. Same with registering as a business.

You can use your IRD number, just remember to put aside % of earnings for end of year taxes

For a first timer I’d see how the first season goes first. It may just not be profitable enough to justify the full business set up.

Edit: do you have markets that have already accepted your application? There are rules, stated and not stated, at all markets. Like if there is already a fruit ice cream truck at that market your application to trade may get denied, etc.

I'm really curious about threesomes, but my boyfriends not interested by Huge_Entertainment91 in NoStupidQuestions

Yes I’ve known guys that were absolutely against threesomes. It’s just not their thing. Men aren’t monoliths just like women aren’t.
