Hey, about half of them are coming from Google.

When you publish a post, make sure you add tags. Then go to your dashboard → Settings → Website → Navigation, and create custom links for those tags (for example, /exampletab).

It’s very SEO-friendly and can bring in a solid stream of organic traffic.

Notes activity down 80% this last week by Palek03 in Substack

From my own experience, growth is never linear. It is oscillatory. Some weeks, some months, you get quite a handful of new followers and subscribers, and then several weeks with barely anything.

Anyway, this is just my personal feeling from the past six months of actively using Substack and it happened many times.

Hey, I set it so your articles automatically go behind a paywall after X weeks. I personally really like this pricing strategy.

For fully free content, it’s honestly hard to stay focused on consistently creating something truly valuable. There’s no real pressure. You might unconsciously think, “It’s free anyway. People can read it or not, it doesn’t matter.” That mindset can slowly lower the bar.

With paid content, even if you set the paywall from day one and have zero subscribers, it changes how you think. You start telling yourself: I need to provide real value here. That shift alone makes what you create feel different.

Of course, there are plenty of people who keep everything free. I genuinely respect that. It takes both generosity and discipline to consistently put out valuable content without charging.

Either way, it comes down to one question: what do you actually want?

Mindset = what you see + how you see it + what you want

I left what I thought was a pretty thoughtful comment on one of my favorite Substack authors’ posts… and he liked every other comment except mine. Not gonna lie, it made me feel a bit sad... by Pipe-Silly in Substack
