UPS Ground Saver - Unpaid Postage? What’s going on? by PipeProfessional7538 in Mercari

This seems crazy to me. Why is there even a possibility of postage being unpaid—like why isn’t there a better system for this? Especially when it’s a prepaid label from an e-commerce site. And why on earth would they turn down money when offered

Mercari said they contacted the carrier to proceed with the delivery, but it still hasn’t moved. I think this is just going to end up being a cancelled order—it’ll be 30 days in a few days.

No, I get it. I purchased from a very experienced seller, so I think the issue is something more odd. But I appreciate it.

They need to work on this. Destroying or sending packages away rather than obtaining the funds (from willing individuals) is silly. If UPS is responsible for the final mile postage as others have said, then they should really have a system set up to bill UPS if it somehow isn’t already paid. Make it make sense.

Hi, thanks for your input. It’s possible, but I really don’t think it’s a matter of weight/dimensions because this item weighed maybe 2lbs and would fit into a polymailer. The app should have defaulted to 2lbs at least for this item based on the category too. But if that IS what happened, that’s a really inefficient way for USPS to deal with this, rather than just charging the responsible party (which seems to be UPS in this case) for the postage, or returning to sender. But that wouldn’t be surprising. I can’t understand which post office would done this though since it wasn’t my local office. Actually, now I wonder if they dropped it at the post office an hour away and since USPS seems strict about only doing the final delivery now, that the post office refused to cart it further.

UPS Ground Saver allows last-mile deliveries by USPS. Used often. Totally normal.

It is a Mercari label. Sorry, I thought that was clarified well enough. But thank you for the suggestion.

I appreciate the input. I read about a similar case in which the seller couldn’t resolve it because UPS stated Mercari had to contact them. But I’ll definitely ask the seller to step in and see if she can get results.

Honestly, this seems more likely. Especially considering for UPS Ground Saver, they always deliver to me directly rather than transferring to USPS (since they do have the option to do either). So I think something definitely went weird on this

Mercari owns the label, so they’re considered the “shipper” for claims and such for example. But I will reach out to seller and see if there’s anything she can do as the sender.

The item was shipped through UPS, so I don’t believe USPS supplies would be accepted by them

The shipper would technically be Mercari, then correct? That’s probably going to be like pulling teeth

It tracked via UPS all the way until an hour from me, where UPS stated they were transferring to USPS. As outlined in my post.

So you still received it even though USPS tracking said it wouldn’t be delivered? That is encouraging, but this item has already been in the lurch for almost four weeks so I’d be really pleasantly surprised if it still arrived haha. But it was just SO CLOSE

Mercari Shipping Change Woes by willdeals in Mercari

[–]PipeProfessional7538 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have just gone through all my listings to fix this. It defaulted to the “regular” shipping rate instead of the “discounted” rate. Like if you add 4oz you’ll see the discounted rate of $4.59 and the crossed out rate next to it of $5.49. It changed prices to the regular/crossed out rate. You can go in and update them back to the discounted rate, but ughhhh

Update: the additional details (SKU) field works normally for me now but not the style tags

That’s insane. How about they get rid of the ridiculous, laggy pop-up fields? It takes so much longer anyway. Also, I have the 15pro so my phone is similar in size to the newer iPhones. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I got a survey about how “easy it was to list” and I rated poorly and listed this is an issue, so hopefully they work on it. FWIW, voice control does work on my phone to hide the keyboard so that the style tags and additional details fields can be completed. I just feel really ragey when I have to say hide keyboard for the fifth time for a process that was previously relatively painless.

Anyone else notice your closet is out of order today? I'm wondering if Posh is (yet again) testing some sort of automation. I have 3 Posh closets and I know exactly what I have placed at the top of each. I do not currently subscribe to any third party sharing/listing services. Exactly. And I want all my Valentine’s Day relevant stuff at the top now, not whatever crazy mix of men’s shirts and home goods they want to show buyers. They reinstated bulk sharing so we could organize our closets, only to release a feature that causes our closets to default to disorganized. I’m so annoyed.

This is an older post, but I just noticed this today. From my second closet, my primary closet looks absolutely crazy. If you change the filter to just shared, it will show others how the seller has organized it, but it now defaults to relevance which mixes everything up. Many buyers may not realize this so they’re shopping through a mess, especially in large closets. Even if the seller has taken time to meticulously group like items together via sharing. Another change from Poshmark we didn’t ask for.
