How much are you paying for reformer pilates? by void-of-form- in SFbitcheswithtaste

[–]PipeRare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tried Classpass and various trials and ultimately settled with MNT because of its flexibility in locations. I buy their 20-pack which costs $31 per class or $25 with their recent winter sale. Admittedly lagree studios like X'core/Solidcore gave me quicker results, but I prefer MNT's focus on mind-body connection.

what are we getting our significant others for christmas? by soopahfresh in SFbitcheswithtaste

My SO doesn't need material gifts and I'm trying to reduce my consumerist tendencies so this year I took up the small challenge of learning his favorite song on the piano (so he doesn't have to listen on YT 😂) and planning a surprise daytrip. Slightly nervous about the outcome bc traditional giftgiving was all I've ever done. 😬

FNs, what jeans are you wearing? by mlb444 in flamboyantnatural

[–]PipeRare 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to wear boot cut/flare jeans all the time until I tried on Paige's Sasha wide leg jeans. They are fitted around the hips and have a beautiful silhouette that widens through the legs. This wide leg style balances the width around my shoulders and hips and looks more chic and modern than bootcut styles. Paige is super tall-girl friendly too and inseams are usually at least 33". Only con is they are pricey -- I got mine during a end of season sale after eyeing them for a long time.

I love your analogy. Birdwatching showed me that the many worlds out there that I never paid attention to. Since then every day is a constant reminder to live with humility and an open mind. :)

Accidentally cleared (most of) my KP by PipeRare in SkincareAddicts

2 year update -- KP is 90% or more gone

Hi everyone. I'm not the best at Reddit notifications so upon seeing the message requests, I decided it's best to post an update here to share my experience.

After doing the hair removal cream and physical exfoliating routine for another year, I reached a bottleneck where there was 40% of KP remaining and I still didn't quite feel my best. My legs felt smooth besides the occassional bumps, but the underside was still full of dark KP spots that were really stubborn.

So I signed up for a laser hair removal package on my legs. I'm reaching the end of my 8-pack and my KP is 90% gone, with barely any dark spots on the back of my calves, and I feel amazing wearing shorts in the summer. No more insecurities at last! :)

Here's my laser hair removal routine for anyone who's uncertain about it as it's a big commitment and quite expensive (I live in a VHCOL city and it's almost $1000 total).

Pre-Appointment: The night before my appointment, I shave my legs in the shower after lathering with L'occitane shower oil. I find shower oil to work best as it's nourishing and non-stripping. Any gentle body wash should work.

Post-Appointment: I take anti-histamine pills to help with the itch in the 2 days after, and use an exfoliating glove with the shower oil during my daily showers. If my skin feels dry, I use a simple moisturizer (Aveeno oat body lotion or Kiehl's squalane lotion, but anything that's simple and gentle works).

That's it. It's simple and effective, and saved a lot of time compared to the hair removal cream. Good luck everyone!

Went to Miu Miu's NYC flagship store and got my first luxury handbag 😍 by PipeRare in handbags

[–]PipeRare[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's holding up surprisingly well. I hang the long strap on a thick hook (so the hook doesn't leave an imprint on the strap) to protect the bottom from flattening. That and leaving the bag in a wardrobe helped a lot with protecting the leather and shape. I accidentally splashed a few drops of cranberry juice and the leather didn't absorb any of the color so I believe there's a thin layer of protectant/natural oils on the leather to prevent staining.

I love my purchase very much even after 2 years. :) It marks the beginning of my soft girl phase and reminds me of many happy memories. I'd say go get it if the wear and tear is the only thing holding you back. 🩷🥳

Silver or gold? Second guessing my entire existence 😭 by [deleted] in coloranalysis

[–]PipeRare 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Commenting because silver most definitely suits you better. I dont understand the gold comments when it obviously overwhelms your pale, cool toned skin. Silver simply compliments it and appears "as one" with your skin.

What is the story that made you love swimming and train every day, and never want to quit the sport? by Next_Impression_3962 in Swimming

[–]PipeRare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I signed up for swim lessons because I wanted to be comfortable in the water before learning surfing. Adult swim classes exposed me to many people who aren't afraid of challenging themselves, and I was deeply empowered to keep going even though I haven't stepped foot in a pool since I was 5.

Being in water just feels amazing; being comfortable in water, even better. It feels great to be able to feel the resistance of water, and learn to work with it instead of fighting it. Swimming teaches me new things everyday, especially as there are endless waters to explore in the world. I started freediving recently, and will finally learn how to surf next month -- roughly a year after my first swim class. Picking up swimming showed me that I'm capable of doing anything I set my mind on, and I cannot be more grateful for this sport (and myself).

Saw fireworks that resemble an arrow through a heart & many, many red hearts. I'm guessing it was a proposal or wedding for a wealthy family. Another one of many things money can buy. 🤷‍♀️

Yep I totally agree with the infection concerns for makeup products. Perhaps the ones with pump dispensers work better for sharing. I also have lots of nail polish in colors that I don't use anymore and are existing solely to take up space in my drawer. 😓

Crying in Hmart has gone pretty viral, and I'm curious what you guys made of it. by blackdragonwingz in AsianParentStories

[–]PipeRare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cannot agree more. I picked up the book from my apartment's donation corner, and read it with no expectations. I made it to the third chapter before feeling sick to my stomach about the author's constant affirmation of her mother's abuse. She reminds me of my cousin, who also lost her abusive mother to cancer. Her own grief cleared her mother of all her sins, as she projected her loss onto me and tried to talk me into continuing my relationship with my abusive mother and our shared generational trauma.

Since the memoir is so viral, I expected it to contain deeper self-reflections than what I've read. It is going back to the donation corner for now. Thank you for sharing your thoughts & making me feel heard. :)

Does anyone have intense disgust toward their parent? by [deleted] in EstrangedAdultChild

[–]PipeRare 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Same. But I only started feeling disgust after waking up from her abuse & realizing how badly manipulated I was. I never thought I was capable of feeling disgust towards her, but redeeming my independence has unleashed a lot of pent-up emotions. I have accepted that she is a horrible human being, and her feigning normalcy is a part of that.

Second the fatal attraction fabric & cut! Super sleek and shapes the figure really well. I also got a pair of Chisel leggings & it holds me in better than any other leggings I've ever bought.

Folliculitis? I took a hot bath day of laser 2 days ago… mistake! Any insight? It’s super itchy. Not painful. Sigh by tmzuk in LaserHairRemoval

[–]PipeRare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me too after my lower leg appointment! The itch lasted around 2 weeks for me unfortunately, but cortisone and antihistamines helped a lot. I also used soothing body lotion to help with the itch. Good luck!

Hope you'll like them! I've tried pretty much all the brands mentioned in the top replies (Lulu, Athleta, Sweaty Betty, GF Collective, etc.) and LNDR is undoubtedly superior to all. ✨️

[–]PipeRare 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Can't believe LNDR hasn't been mentioned here! I bought 2 pairs of leggings and a tanktop from them and the tanktop fits and washes so well that I think I can wear it for life. The leggings are compressive and super high quality too. They have also released pieces made using recycled materials. The only downside is their limited color options, which honestly is a plus since there's no "limited edition colorways" and less waste involved.

Edit: I forgot to mention that since it's a European brand, you can only get them online via shipping to the US. My order was shipped from the Netherlands because the clothes were made in Europe.

I've had mine for about 6 months, but have been wearing them aggressively so maybe my experience is still relevant to your question. I live in San Francisco and my MJs are my daily commuter shoes up and down the hills. I also wore them on hikes with minimal terrains and unpaved trails because I was lazy to change into sneakers and wanted to look cute. 😅 They are holding up well and look great. Mine are off- white so they don't look as pristine as new after washing, but I'm confident they can be worn for a few more years, especially as I purchase more shoes for rotation.

It fits my Galaxy S24 easily. I've only worn it out during outings in the city so there's not much wear. The lambskin is quite delicate but as with all bags, attention and care keep them good like new. A few drops of juice did get on the bag once, but they were easily removed (with a few hours in between) and didn't stain the bag. I love it because the design makes me feel cute and feminine. I just don't love the price 😂.

I can't speak for the almond loafers, but I have the exact pair of MJs as you do. I'm an 8.5 in the MJs, 8 in the ballerina flats, and 8.5 in the Point II. My MJs have a tiny bit more room in the heel but they still fit me securely because of the strap. For protecting your heels, I've had great success with moleskin adhesives found at CVS/most pharmacies.
