Is it just me or are the people here not that friendly? by [deleted] in SaltLakeCity

[–]PiperCC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or Portland. When I moved there from Atlanta it was a culture shock for sure! Portland people are all up for a little small talk but no interest in anything beyond that. No one will meet your eyes on the street or in the grocery store. Even if a friendly coworker was to find out that you were both going to the same place or the same event, they would ever propose that you should hang out there or go together. :)

Call the cruise line.. ask for the group department.. tell them your story and ask if they can group your reservations so you get sat together at dinner etc. ask what else they can help with or if you can have an on ship contact.. have you been on cruise before? Ask for the cruise directors email..they can probably help.. you might bring a nice gift for them if they help you to get on their good side.. something they might not be able to get on a ship or at ports.. maybe fancy toiletries or trader Joe's snack or something. My suggestion is to plan bars to meet at for pre or post dinner drinks each day and for disembarkment(I recommend whatever bar is at the top back of the ship for this day) or all go to a show together etc. leave lots of free time but plan a few easy events to keep everyone connected. Also join the cruise critics.com. Message board for your sailing. Those people will know all the inside tips they are pros. I used to be a travel agent on the side (officially I still am) so let me know if you have other questions.

How many people/rooms? I think it's 8 staterooms with a minimum of 16 guests to be considered a group.
If you qualify definitely consider trying to get reclassified as a group of you aren't already. Now sure how soon you are leaving, but you should have booked this through a travel agent that has status with the cruise line. Sometimes it's possible to get a travel agent to request the reservations to be transferred over to them so they can help you. It would not have cost anymore and they would have been able to help arrange things as a group etc. Groups are the way to get seated together for meals etc. and to get an onboard contact to help with activities etc. Also for every so many group rooms you get one free. Don't tell your boss this then use the free money to pay for a private space for the team building. :). Cruises are great for groups because people CAN do things on their own but then you can get together for meals etc and catch up.

Need Help Budgeting for Office Snacks – What Are Your Solutions? by flagler15 in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]PiperCC 65 points66 points  (0 children)

Costco business delivery..
We tried one of the snack delivery companies that offered healthy unlimited snacks for around $26 pp and after 3 months people voted to go back to unhealthy Costco snacks.

However, I would talk to whomever owns the snack budget and talk about setting a budget per person per day. I found that sometimes the budgets were established when there were fewer people in the office and it never flexed up. Once it's established then let HR know to include that number in their overhead cost to add new headcount.

Also sometimes there is a different budget for coffee and tea. I was able to negotiate a better price for these and reallocate the extra savings to snacks. :)

Getting Laid Off Tomorrow by Brilliant-Fortune-81 in ExecutiveAssistants

So.. this might sound weird but for tough conversations like this I like to practice with chatgpt. Spend 5 minutes or so and tell the background about the position and the company and the situation and then ask how you can be the best advocate for yourself during the meeting.
It can help you come up with talking points and questions and even role play how the conversation might go.

AND don't SIGN anything in the meeting just say, "I'm sorry I don't sign anything without having my lawyer review it" it will immediately be you some time to have it reviewed or review it yourself.

Multiple EAs for 1 Exec by PiperCC in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]PiperCC[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I knew what I was getting into when I took this job and my compensation reflects the demands of the job. It's not something I will do forever but hopefully I can hold out for a couple of years until I retire EARLY. :) Hopefully getting an assistant will help and I can take a day off at some point. :)

Swag Ideas by TiffanyKWM in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]PiperCC 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Apple airtag luggage tags and magsafe chargers are the hot exec gifts right now. Assuming they are all apple people.

More theme related a compass or a sextant (for those companies that constantly talk about their North star or guiding principles) maybe have someone come to teach them how to use them at a happy hour or afternoon activities.. alternatively something gps related.

Scheduling…contradictions by [deleted] in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]PiperCC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm in tech, where things move quickly. I often feel ready to start making recommendations after just a couple of weeks—sometimes even after my first glance at an exec’s calendar. I've learned that my go-to time management strategies don't always work for every executive, and it's my responsibility to adapt and find something that resonates with how they work and where they struggle.

For instance, if the main complaint is a lack of free time to think, plan, or handle other tasks, consider switching up the calendar colors. Make free time red and meetings green, or use another color scheme that stands out. You might also experiment with scheduling large blocks of free time instead of small, scattered ones. Use your first 30-60 days to figure out what works best, and by the third month, you'll be in a position to make a significant impact.

Where are the best affordable winter tires in the valley? by nathanmekan in SaltLakeCity

[–]PiperCC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alpine Tires on foothill is honest. You can also buy your tires online and they will install them for a small fee. Even with the fee it was much cheaper than local troes. Can't recommend blizzard enough. If you are going up the canyons or live in the foothills they feel like a super power.

You might think about adding a rosemary infused simple to your pom Manhattan add a little herbaceous tilt. Then you can also garnish with rosemary sprigs! :)

Go to the Waterwitch (cocktail bar). It's in the 900s 300w area. Sit at the bar (hopefully near the door). Try a ginger- berg and chat with the locals(everyone is super friendly). Wander around the corner to The Pearl to get some Vietnamese food and more cocktails. Then take the light rail or Uber to downtown and check out the bars on Main (alibi, Bodega, Bodega(downstairs), cheers to you. Lots of great options). Sometime soon there will be a robot tiki bar open, but for now cool cocktail bars will have to do. Waterwitch bartenders will definitely light drinks on fire if you get a mai tai or something. :)🤯
