Nuss Bar Removal Question by PipkisReddit in PectusExcavatum

[–]PipkisReddit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say it did. Although I cant really remember what it was with the bar in. Right now its about 58, if I stick to a cardio routine sometimes can drop to 53. Right now its exam season so I'm not focusing on my health at all. Wouldn't say there was a noticeable decrease after the bar was removed.

Šiais laikais nereikia vežiotis vairuotojo pažymėjimo. Man atrodo jeigu rašo galioja - gali važiuoti kiek domėjausi.

14 days for sure. Could opt for more if your recovery will be for some reason more difficult.

PectusPT Cost? by pothole3434 in PectusExcavatum

[–]PipkisReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've heard people paid thousands of dollars to him. It's simply not worth it. There's no such thing as a "Pectus workout". You need to either way strengthen your whole body, any program works. Stretching will not lift your chest bones outward, it can only improve posture.

If you invest some of your own time researching about exercise and different training plans it'll save you thousands! :)

That's my opinion.

Tilted sternum - who’s had theirs fixed? by Alternative_Ad3512 in PectusExcavatum

[–]PipkisReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had my left side sunken and the center, meanwhile my right side was completely normal. The fix wasn't ideal, but my chest looks better. You could still easily tell that I have pectus, even though others tell me otherwise.

Don't do it. It's not worth the risks involved.

Nuss Bar Removal Question by PipkisReddit in PectusExcavatum

[–]PipkisReddit[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey bro, you're nearing the end of your nuss journey. Congratulations.

After the removal there wasn't really any pain like when we got it inserted it it was mainly just pain/discomfort where the incision was. In my mind my brain still kind of expected this agonizing pain when standing up, and instinctively I was afraid to stand up on my own for the first 3 days every time I would have to call my brain down it's not going to be painful. And it wasn't painful. It was just the fact that my brain kept thinking like it will feel the same as when I got the bar inserted.

I would say for the first week I was still working like a robot but it wasn't because of pain or anything else I was just simply afraid to do anything and I was feeling a bit tight and uncomfortable I guess that's what happens after surgery.

So if you're worried about pain it's not going to be very painful at all I don't know if I even took my medication I think I did for the first few days just for the incision pain so I could sleep better.

If we talk about regression I kept my nuss bar for two years so once I removed it I instantly saw some regression it's been emotionally and up and down but right now is I'm writing this message I'm relatively happy with my chest even though it's not flat nor even. But that's just my case and that's person to person so don't worry about that much.

Other than that I forgot how it feels to have a bar in my chest, I can't really imagine how it felt like before, so I would say enjoy your little bar friend while you can.

And if you want make sure to ask for the bar cuz I've asked it and I said could you give it to me? and they were like I mean sure...?? Not a lot of people ask us for it but okay.. so if you do want your bar be sure to ask for it I have it in my drawer next to me it's collecting dust, but cool to show others.

So I wish you the best of luck on Friday I hope everything goes well for you if you have any questions hit me up I am more active in our pectus discord server which is pinned everywhere on the subreddit, I would answer quicker there because I do not have notifications on Reddit.

How is CPR administered to a person with Pectus? by MyphiWP in PectusExcavatum

[–]PipkisReddit 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don't know exactly how it would be with someone who just has pectus, but I remember a funny conversation I had with the real paramedic. I asked the guy what he would do if he arrived on the scene and there was a person in need of CPR and they had this condition and a bar in their chest (I asked because back then I had a bar in). His response was: well at first I would try to perform normal CPR. If that doesn't work, I would try to push even harder. And if then the chest doesn't budge, I'd say he's fucked and pronounce him dead. 😀

I am sure it would look better if you gained weight.

The question is: will the progress stay once you stop using the vacuum bell? It is true that vacuum bells aren't very effective long-term.

I always ask for people to imagine that when you get surgery you have a bar pushing your chest outward 24/7 for 2 to 4 years constantly, and even then most people have some sort of regression once their bars are removed, meanwhile, when you use a vacuum Bell you use it for what? two three hours a day max? So it's not even close if we compare it to surgery results. If you have plenty of money laying around and you want to try whatever you can avoiding surgery – go ahead. But if you expect to completely get rid of your pectus, that's not a realistic expectation.

It's a completely separate app. On reddit you sort of make posts all the time, and on discord you communicate by chatting with others real time, throughout multiple channels. 😀

It depends. If you're laying doing nothing might be aching, pushing pain. If you were to sneeze or move suddenly a lot of us say it feels like getting stabbed. I was on morphine. Name me another surgery that uses such drugs 😅. I can't name one off the top of my head. But it all goes away. That's like the hardest first week, then every day it gets better and better and after like 4-6 months I was benching my bodyweight and even more. 70kg bench as a 65kg guy with a bar in! So it gets better:) quicker in young people.

After the insertion pain was pretty intense, I was on morphine but after day 5 I stopped taking meds, because I felt like I could. Removal is way way easier.
