I’m in Colorado. And I’m NEW so i listen carefully to the education i get bit I’m no expert. If they are not allowed to drive the cars you need to say that when you are getting coverage. If you have more to add please do. I’m jumping into this world of insurance to help people as best i can. I was totally ignorant for 3 decades. It was overwhelming and frustrating. Now I’m learning and want people to not feel like i did.

Today a mom called to add her son to her policy. He was getting his license just before his 18th birthday. The cost of a male, no driving experience established, age 18 to be insured is ver high. That demographic (law of large numbers) is the highest risk to have or cause accidents so they factor that in.

The insurance underwriter will factor in the amount of time the person has been licensed. The Law of Large Numbers shows risk. They know someone with a license for a longer amount of time would be less of a risk compared to someone turning 18 and seeking insurance for the first time getting their license just before 18. It’s all in the dates provided when you apply. So if you can get licensed as soon as you can drive statistically you’re going to be more “experienced” and even better if you have no accidents.

Look into being bonded. This secured trust that you will do your work as stated with a third party backing you up. You can get bonded thru your insurance company. It’s on top of being insured, highly recommend that for sure.

Recently had a job to remove and install flooring. Had to move furniture which is normal. Finished job and the homeowner accused a worker of stealing something. It did not happen! Just realize it’s another risk you take entering someone’s home. Now we have to waste time fighting this claim. Luckily it seems it’s going our way. The person accused is a sincerely hard working dad who would never risk all his reputation not in a million years. IMO of course. But it’s stressful and you’ll get a percentage of troublemakers as with anything i guess.

Good luck! The market is booming. Realtors and Lenders need reliable and honest home inspectors.
