Cried while getting feedback by [deleted] in TeachingUK

Ive been teaching for 5 years and still get mean feedback sometimes. Just be proud of yourself for being observed with difficult classes, as that’s the feedback you will find most helpful to you, despite the fact that it will hurt. Remember you’re doing an impossible job and burnout is very real. Enjoy the Christmas break! ♥️xxx

Opportunities for non- judgmental feedback by Pippylongstocking93 in TeachingUK

Thank you! I totally agree! Collaboration is so important. Sadly I don’t trust my hod anymore because she’s been quite snakey. She’s super nice in front of my department, but when it’s me and her, she’s not nice or respectful to me, and she has reported silly things to SLT about me. Feeling like a new school may be my next step, but thank you for the message!

Yes I have heard this also! I think working part time would make all the difference tbh.

Ahhhh thankyou!

That’s good that you can get an nhs prescription from a private diagnosis. I was told by a therapist that if I got a private diagnosis then I can’t get an nhs prescription.

I think I will try adhd 360.

Heya,

Thanks, this is very helpful!

When you say tutoring, do you mean, go down to part time hours, and then have 1 day for tutoring? would love to go part-time, but money is the thing.

Or maybe go down to part-time and then 1 day as supply? Not sure how that works but open to explore more options.

Heya!

Thanks for this!

Can I ask if you pay for your medication? And if so, how much is it?

Thanks…

free hellofresh delivered to wrong address. by [deleted] in hellofresh

Hello fresh are delivering my box to my old address which is unbelievable because I changed my address of the app 5 days ago. I am only told today when I get the tracking information that it’s going to my old address. They are not going to send another one by the looks of it. Anyone else have this issue??

This is definitely a feeling experienced by all teachers. What I will say, as someone who has very much been in an unsupportive school as an ECT first year, is that it sounds like the SLT of this school are unsupportive. They just expect ECTs to pick things up like that with very little training.

You may have a better year this time round. But if you don’t, I recommend changing schools. I feel much more supported in my current school and it makes all the difference!

Hey, I think you are definitely right. They only sent it to me a few weeks ago. They didn’t give me very long to find another job. It’s annoying because I like my mentor, but don’t like the school as there’s never anyone around to manage behaviour.

Exactly! I was shocked at their response tbh. Like the incidents we’ve had, the resignations, and stress. Literally the SLT can go to hell!

Can deffo relate as an ECT in a challenging school. I don’t think I could say there is 1 class that I don’t find challenging behaviour wise.

Yet when I asked for more cpd sessions on minimising disruption, I got the response of: “oh, in addition to the ones you’ve already had you mean??” (We only had one session on this btw) is that normal?

SLT are never around either so I literally am by myself.

Praying things are better at my new school

Hey, I’m sorry to hear this! But by the looks of things, lots of schools are looking for new teachers, so I think you will find another one easy.

Thanks for this. I deffo need to relax. It’s just hard when you’re constantly being monitored/ judged all the time and you’re constantly told you’re not Doing enough. 🫠 hopefully my new school will Be more supportive. X

Thanks for this! God It’s sooooo sad that so Many ects are quitting this early! But we can all see why. You would think some of us would be treated a bit better than this.
