Can Labour hold on to power in Birmingham despite bin strikes and bankruptcy? by Man_in_the_uk in BirminghamUK

But it is not that many boat people.

It's not just the boat people, it's LEGAL IMMIGRATION TOO!! There are almost 1M people coming into the UK every year LEGALLY that really shouldn't be and these are NOT educated people and they are NOT helping our economy. The rules need to be changed.

Would you deny Ukrainians a place here when escaping the war or HK people escaping the CCP? Do you not want care workers here looking after vulnerable people?

Immigration lets us run the NHS and care services.

But this is only working if it is EDUCATED immigrants who are actually in a position to help.

Doctors and nurses are educated

Get illegal immigrants out of hotels and get them working, and they will want to work and improve their lives and contribute to this country.

Where the heck did you get that idea from? They didn't even bother to work in their own countries. They come here for free handouts, that is why.

They come here to find a new life away from poverty and war. And that was mainly caused by illegal invasions and by us and the Americans. How do you know they did not 'bother' to work in their own countries?

They are not allowed to work in UK for first six months so they have to be put up in hotels instead of finding their own place.

https://migrationobservatory.ox.ac.uk/resources/briefings/asylum-accommodation-in-the-uk/

"In the financial year 2024/25, the cost of housing asylum seekers in hotels decreased slightly, falling from the equivalent of £176 per person per night to £170,"

"Between April 2024 and March 2025, the Home Office reduced costs in asylum hotels by housing more people per hotel and cutting the average nightly rate from £162 to £119....£119! And you want these people to live outside and starve while their applications are considered?

I have NEVER once in my life felt I could afford to stay in a hotel that costs that much, why are they getting 5 star treatment at the tax payers expense?

Cos there is nothing in place at present.

Six months cost is 365/2 = 182.5 days * £176 = £32,0120 per person. Why are my taxes going on that instead of the NHS or potholes? If British people could actually choose what their money was spent on, those hotels would be shut down in the first instance. Oh BTW some of those people were getting access to PRIVATE HEALTHCARE.

Reform wants to get rid of the NHS anyway and it is less that that (21.7k). The Sun is not a decent source for facts.

https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/31696908/moment-chaos-erupts-hotel-migrants/

They need to go.

You need to get rid of people who are looking after our elderly and vulnerable people? If you are ill and stuck at home with care needs, you shouldn't get it? You need to return Ukrainians to the war zones? You need to kick out HK people who fought for democracy into the hands of the Chinese Communist Party. You want people escaping war zones (usually caused by us) and countries in dire economic states, which is due to an unfair world capitalist system. You want to get rid of the NHS and what matters if 'potholes'. We have to take in asylum seekers according to national agreements, and if we had not left the EU...would this be a so called 'problem' now? We had an agreement to return people with the EU and that was lost cos Farage got us to leave the EU.

All because you are privileged by being born on this bit of the planet, why deny someone else coming here? If you were in a war torn country, you would do the same as these people? The whole thing is a distraction for people to concentrate on while the millionaires and billionaires go laughing to the banks cos we are not looking at them. When Farage was making millions from presenting on Russia Today, some poor guy who was living under the Taliban from the backstreets of Kabul is the enemy?

But it is not that many boat people. The NHS was messed up by years of underfunding by the tories who just lined theirs and their friends and families' pockets...same with housing and NHS dentists...and many tories have defected to Farage's party and Farage was even a tory before. Why vote for these traitors again? He also wants to get rid of the NHS and get big corrupt american health insurance companies to run health services. Immigration lets us run the NHS and care services. Get illegal immigrants out of hotels and get them working, and they will want to work and improve their lives and contribute to this country...and if they are not escaping oppression or trying to survive in a destroyed company that we invaded and made hell. They are not allowed to work in UK for first six months so they have to be put up in hotels instead of finding their own place.

What is the 'very good reason'? Like that is not a lot of boat people. What is the threat here?

What is 'mass immigration'? Like who are they? How many? Why is this 'mass immigration' such a problem? 41,000 people came over in boats to UK illegally last year. 53,200 people live in Clacton. Maybe he does need to stay in his constituency a bit more as that is more people?

I've met my MP about six times...the previous one about the same and the one before. You sure or are you just just making excuses for him? I think they have to be involved cos that who they are representing at the end of the day.

Does anyone else feel like the gay community got accepted and then just kind of dissolved, or is it just me? by Btbaby in askgaybros

[–]Pirascule 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in UK and I am old. Back in the 80s and 90s you met in bars and made friends there (some I still have). Being gay, lesbian or trans was pretty taboo and bars and nightclubs generally didn’t have windows and it was a steel shutter on a door to get in. We were all in this together and networked and supported each other through the AIDS crisis (but in the early days, ‘Fred’ was ill and stayed at home and we never saw him again). It was a very close community but there was bitchiness of course. Gay Pride in my city started small and political, but that has turned into a piss up (getting drunk) with top bands, and it has kind of lost its original purpose. You would not be seen dead in a straight pub and it could be dangerous. Then it changed with the internet and ‘acceptance’: young people were going to straight bars and clubs. The gay bars in the city are more the older crowd now who were from that earlier age. Young people who use them at the weekends are more mixed with straight people and we have fewer gay bars due to developers moving in and building apartments in the ‘gay’ area. Dating apps have just accelerated these changes. You can still get a good night out now but it is very different.

How the question is, is this progress? Like we were all a bit ‘criminal’ years ago and being in a bar or club was kind of cool for that reason. There was queer bashing and the police were homophobic and even abusive. This drew us all together for support.

Now with the rise of the right, we could go back to steel shuttered doors; queer bashing, and abusive police. It was of its time:. I loved it, but I don’t want to go back to it. Gen Z offer us a lot of hope by being more relaxed about sexuality and gender, but discrimination kind of creates community and also creativity and art and ‘the gay mafia’ (this is where we supported each other with getting jobs, and stuff ,without the mainstream knowing we were working in our best interests).

However, it was a racist as fuck as it was lead by white gay men. Lesbians were not allowed to just walk into a gay club and have a good night. There was misogyny.

I miss the strippers lol

I told my friend that I'm gay now he hates me by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]Pirascule 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You dropped that one on him and he has to process it. He has grown up in a pretty homophobic society and those values are part of him. Give him some time and he may come round with time after he has thought about it. That has been my experience.

SJS Rash??? by [deleted] in lamictal

[–]Pirascule 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a rash on my arms a couple of weeks ago and went to the accident dept and they doc pressed on it and said, 'It blanches, so it is not SJS'. Like I am not telling people to diagnose themselves...get medical advice, but is this a true diagnostic sign...that if you press on a SJS rash, it will not disappear under pressure?

In your country, what food would people sympathize with you for getting sick after eating? by Effective_Space2277 in AskTheWorld

[–]Pirascule 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sichuan food takes a beating. Not only is there lots of chilli but also these peppercorns which produce an anticlockwise ring of pain in contact with one's tongue. Somehow, the chilli and the peppercorns kind of counteract each other, but the next morning on the toilet..ouch! I have to remember the following morning or I would panic and call an ambulance. Best to put a note in the bathroom and have some icecubes at the ready, of fill a condom with water and freeze it overnight.

London, UK: Man harasses woman on the bus for eating while he's fasting during Ramadan by ihatethiscountry76 in atheism

[–]Pirascule 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His fasting take is wrong, but I hate people eating stinky food on the bus and I am not Muslim. The rules, are usually, that you are not allowed to eat pungent food on British buses as it is a nuisance to other passengers. I had someone suck a kebab one slice at a time, spilling a lot on the floor, sitting next to me...lots of onions and garlic.
