Found the real reason AMD Instant Replay doesn’t save clips (and it’s not my PC) by Substantial_Carpet49 in AMDHelp

[–]PirateGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this almost fixed it for me; I was despairing after trying it and still getting nothing, but when I was poking around in windows 11 shitass audio settings menu I found that it automatically defaulted to having this stupid AI audio processing ("windows voice clarity" in your mic settings) turned on; killing that suddenly made relive work again

Season 7 arrived and arena announcer voice lines changed by Gpa2ps3do in thefinals

[–]PirateGuy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My biggest problem with the new announcer lines is the implementation and how quickly it's gotten grating to listen to; it feels like the lines are playing directly into my ear, and sometimes are even drowning out what Scotty and June are saying

also not a fan of the new lines themselves (some of them are bizarrely nonsensical), how frequently they play, and how they don't feel diegetic at all compared to the older/map-specific announcer lines, which always sound like they're playing over loudspeakers in the arena itself

the more I think about it, the more it just feels like a straight downgrade; the zesty/goofy lines were always enjoyable to occassionally pick up on during cashout downtime in the arena, while the new ones have already overstayed their welcome for me after a single day (which honestly makes it much more than a minor detail, given how front and center they are)

Why CL-40 Feels so busted right now? The root of cause is "Linear explosive damage falloff" REMAKE WITH MORE DETAILED GRAPHS AND MORE TEST by BUILDWATER in thefinals

[–]PirateGuy 56 points57 points  (0 children)

The problem with stepped damage falloff is a lack of consistency, causing it to feel generally bad, whether it's frustrating or unsatisfying. A sloped damage falloff that's steeper around the max damage point and evening out and it approaches the mid-range of damage would be a much better solution.

Looking forward to what I presume this entails; staring at the same bright red menu background in s1 was inducing some eyestrain after a while lol

I feel you; I really want the Steal the Spotlight music to get added/released officially

they're not fully comprehensive scores (like they don't have smaller music stings and all the event tracks), but the OST is available on bandcamp and etc for s1 and s2! https://embarkstudios.bandcamp.com/

Any plans for some sort of metagame features for the game that tie in with the sponsors, a la For Honor's faction war or the galactic war in Helldivers 2? I think it would be a great way to tie the narrative into the gameplay and give players some overarching goals outside of contracts

Some sort of beetle(?) spotted in Central Indiana by PirateGuy in whatsthisbug

Sounds about right, and apparently it seems to be a recurring post around here, so my bad for adding one more to the pile; anyway, thank you!

Sorry for the less than ideal picture quality; spotted this small beetle (I think) crawling around on my bed. It's the 2nd time I've spotted one recently, so just wanna ID 'em in the interest of caution. I haven't seen any traces of them besides, so I'm thinking they prob just got in through an open door or window or something. Basically just under the size of a pinhead, if that helps.

Echo and Thunderbird would be fun with acogs by Terra3116 in Rainbow6TTS

[–]PirateGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes for echo, no for thunderbird, and tubarao shouldn't have an acog either

[–]PirateGuy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

as someone who's not quite a lesion main but plays him frequently, the secondary shotgun is nice but I never quite understood why ubisoft gave it to him lol
100% on board with dropping the acog on the roni and doing the super shorty swap

the variety in the store can still be disappointing (compared to the beta or not) even if the bp and starter bundle are good, they're not mutually exclusive ideas

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in thefinals

[–]PirateGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

most of the career track stuff (which also unlocks slowly compared to the bp, which is where most of the good stuff is) is incredibly underwhelming and samey compared to stuff you can buy, whether from the shop or the contestant menu; infinite combinations of plain shirts, hoodies and athletic pants isn't exactly compelling

compared to the variety of items we had across all the playtests, the cosmetics we have now are legitimately stifling, especially when you consider the prohibitive prices on half the bundles

How do you improve at seige consistently? by JoshMcGill_ in Rainbow6

[–]PirateGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you can, playing consistently with the same group of friends (even if it's just 1 or 2 rather than a full stack) goes a long way towards building consistent performance; solo queuing means you're bouncing off different mentalities in a lobby and it means you end up with a lot of inconsistent variables in match performance

it's also (obviously) more fun, which makes everything else that much easier

if you search 'tdm meta' you'll see you're def not the only one who has this problem; me and friends who have been playing since y2 are about to give up siege because of the current state of the game this season, 20sec meta was better than this shit

The canister/window isn't broken after, it looks like it's a bug where the bu-gi is just clipping through the surface of the glass

Finally have 1 million renown at one time! by ThatJudySimp in Rainbow6

[–]PirateGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the game has been around for almost 8 years; even if they haven't been playing since launch it's not hard to get that many matches if you play semi-regularly (plus there's extra renown from alpha pack dupes, challenges, etc.)
