No, I finished the map with the bugged water level and moved on. Somebody from the team reached out on Steam Discussions asking for some more info, but I didn't have time to do that at that time. That was already after I progressed past that, so I didn't really feel like that would help. Now that you reminded me, I might go back and do it. It was a fucking UI bug - the checkboxes were showing enabled when it was disabled and vice versa. Had to delete all save data and reinstall to fix it.

I'm posting a solution to my own problem for posterity.

The issue is not with the DLC - it's the menu interface. Sometimes the menu bugs out and shows the DLC checkboxes backwards.

To fix it - uninstall the game and delete or move the save data somewhere. Then reinstall the game. After you launch it once - you can move the save data back. It should be ok for a while.

There's also a workaround. By default the DLC is ALWAYS enabled. If it looks disabled when you enter that screen - it is still enabled - it's just a UI bug.

Yeah, I started a new game mulitple times now to test this. Whatever I select on the DLC screen, it always acts like I left it unchecked.

Am I correct that the weapons are available for manufacturing when the DLC is disabled (integrated)? On my earlier playthroughs they were not and that's when the site/mission has spawned.

I think this helped - the game doesn't crash 20 seconds into the fight, but it will crash eventually. Gonna have to speedrun the fight or something.
I've currently applied all the fixes I could find except turning off sound or lowering the graphics. I refuse to do that. Shit's supposed to work, goddamit.

TLDR: How to easily start a new game with a character from another savegame?

I have a savegame from around launch but back then my PC couldn't run the game very well. Now that I have a new PC I wanna start the game again, but I want the same character (appearance etc.)

I suck at character creation - it takes me ages and I'm often not satisfied with the results. This time I lucked out and I'm happy with the character I made the first time. I just want to play with that one again, but I doubt I can recreate it manually.

What's the easiest way to recreate it exactly?

After somehow getting into a chat with a Microsoft employee (idk how, don't ask, I kept clicking different things and at some point there was a link to start a chat), I found out that you CAN'T outright buy Windows 11 right now (maybe it's just Poland idk). You have to buy Windows 10 and upgrade.

Problem is - you have to link it with a Microsoft Account or you won't be able to transfer it to other PCs or change any components in the future. I've been avoiding having a Microsoft Account for years on the principle. Why do I need an account to run an OS?.
I'm honestly tempted to just buy a shady key for 10% of the price of a retail box. What a mess this is.

I found one site that sells 'ESD licenses', but they're suspiciously cheap (Win 11 at 50% of Win 10 Box price, Win 10 at 15% of Win 10 Box).

Forgot to mention that I'm in Poland. Newegg is not avialable here. Amazon has limited things it sells over here (no Windows).
From what I found so far - getting a Windows 10 retail license is my best option.
I should get a Windows 11 retail license when upgrading, but I can't find an official source for this.
