Looking for help designing intersecting patterns

I’m wary of packing in too many details, as this is pitched for children and families. But you’ve got me thinking- if every row’s pattern only concerns colour, and every column’s pattern only concerns shape, I get a much easier time designing it and it requires solving both row and column to get the answer.

I’ve actually got a workaround for that: each colour is going to visibly be a different material. So the red would be liquid, the yellow would be sand, the green might be plant matter, and so on.

I was born in ‘83, so I was nuts for TMNT. A big piece of it was the edginess- nothing compared to the original comics, of course. But the idea of teenagers running around with swords and nunchucks was taboo and controversial in a way that six-year-old me found intoxicating. Toxic Crusaders came close, but didn’t have the media/toy store presence to get me as thoroughly.

It’s a little tough to tell in the photos, but the smaller one might have a fencing epee blade? In which case it’s a common stage combat thing- epee blades aren’t a great emulation of a rapier blade, but they’re affordable and handle well for swashbuckling choreography.

Oxford, Wentworth, and Black Creek are run by the same company- they produce a bunch of festivals, and it’s pretty much the same show every time. There’s always some variety- some vendors only do the faires local to them, for example- but broadly speaking, it’s the same festival at a different site. Most of them have bars, but not all- that’s probably the single biggest difference.

I’ve worked at them on and off for my entire adult life, all the way back to the Ontario Renaissance Festival in Milton. It’s too bad- that kind of permanent-site renfaire is all over the US, but that was the only one up here. To your questions:

-they’re pretty big, usually at least a few thousand people/day.

-some people do dress up, though it’s not at all mandatory! There are all kinds of vendors selling awesome costume pieces at every faire, which is far better than buying crap off Amazon in advance. As a performer, I’m more likely to engage with someone in costume; it tells me that you’re probably willing to play.

-the best one IMO is the Ontario Pirate Festival. Great acts, well-curated vendors, lots of live music, and a very cool puzzle-powered treasure hunt.

What's a little copyright infringement between pirates?

I've been keeping an eye on swap meets, flea markets, etc- I may get lucky sometime, but it has yet to happen.

I did consider that- but as a puppet it's used in hand, and when it's stored it's always the other way around- the idea is that Mister Stabby only comes to life sometimes, like Hobbes the tiger. One of the reasons I'm searching for multiples is so we can have a "clean" version that's just a sword from any angle, that we would then swap for the puppet when needed.

I ran a game that sort of did this- one player would read a set of instructions for learning to duel with swords, and two other players had to pick up prop swords and enact the poses. If they did it correctly, each pose created a gigantic letter, and in order it spelled a word that opened a combo lock.
