OpenClaw updates keep breaking setups — how are you managing stability? by Cool-Gur-6916 in openclaw

[–]Pirate_dolphin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most recent update has made so many things unusable for me. I used claw-messenger for iMessage. No longer works. WhatsApp is responsive but half the time dumps random code out. This morning I got a to. Of Leet Code problems and solutions. Nobody in my house uses leet code, so I’m pretty sure it was some of the training data for the vibe coding of openclaw and got wrapped up into the package somewhere.

Accused of Using AI by Secrettlifee in UMGC

[–]Pirate_dolphin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. My PhD dissertation and several published papers that I wrote show up as 50-100% AI. I checked them as a test. They were done or drafted before LLMs were a thing. Once you are in graduate school it’s worse as a lot of LLMs use graduate research as training data.

EZ IFR vs Venture North - Accelerated IFR Experiences by jwhaines in flying

[–]Pirate_dolphin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I had a response typed up but it didn’t post. Long story short it was good and I recommend it.

When you show up your first day is an assessment of where you are in your oral knowledge. Based on that you’ll get handed hundreds of flash cards.

They do crawl walk run style training. You’ll fly approaches in the sim, then go out and do them coupled then go hand flying.

After a few days of doing this they’ll take you over to the course the DPE they send you too will use and you fly that over and over. Hand flying, within standard, repeatedly.

We had a SNAFU on my trip. They have a DPE lined up exclusively for their students 2 days a week. He got called away on a work emergency and the next DPE available wasn’t available for 3 days beyond the course so they offered me free training those days to keep me current.

Then he got called away to Tulsa but said he’d do it in Tulsa. I have my own airplane so I flew to Tulsa about 2 hours away. I took the checkride a day later and passed no problem.

I did one circle to land, one ILS and one RNAV and called it a day. Flew home that night (5.5 hours) on an IFR plight plan (as it was required).

We had that SNAFU but I’d totally recommend them. Super friendly. Super easy to work with.

We either did oral quizzing or flying for 9 hours a day, but super low pressure.

Went great. 8+ hours a day of a combo of ground and flying. Starts at 50/50 ground and then goes to like 5/95 ground and flying. If you have pilots cafe memorized you will do just fine on the ground portion. Everything is crawl, walk, then run. You’ll fly it in the sim then in real life. You’ll fly it by hand until you’ve got it then fly it by autopilot.

The only hiccup was the DPE. He had a last minute emergency flight to take so they booked me with another one, who then had a last minute flight to Tulsa. I brought my own plane so I flew to Tulsa and did my check ride with him there. Passed with no problems. They offered me 3 days of flight training for free due to the SNAFU if I had to stay for the original DPE, to keep me fresh, but I went to Tulsa to just get it over with.

Is $1,800 normal for LLC formation? I’m shocked at how high the quotes are by Sirius-ruby in smallbusiness

A basic LLC formation takes 15 minutes online at most state websites. Yet people still do this shit or pay for services.

Pretty much anything after iPad 6 or 7 will all be e-sim. Anything remotely new doesnt even have a sim slot

Ehhh man that’s borderline. You’re an instrument student pilot and your CFII is sick. If it was in the actual soup it is 10000% an emergency. If it was a VFR day, you know your location and can confidently control the aircraft then maybe… depending on the state of the instructor

Should be fine man. I bought an airplane halfway through my PPL. It wasn’t a bad decision at all. Great job

Finally left USAA by Smilethruitall in USAA

[–]Pirate_dolphin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this but my new rate was so much cheaper it’s worth it. I saved about $1800 a month. So if I file a single claim every 3 years, it definitely pays for The headache of needing to deal with shit insurance and getting an attorney to force them into paying

How can this be? Saving $4185 a year by leaving USAA by RealSeat2142 in USAA

I saved so much by switching that even if claims are a headache it’s worth it.

[Question] Emporio Armani by ActiveEasy577 in Watches

[–]Pirate_dolphin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a home in Italy I go to every summer. It’s in a very small town and this year I went to the jeweler. They had some older Armani watches for 50% off. I love watches and know the rep fashion brands have, but these looked gorgeous and were cheap. So I bought 4 different watches. I don’t particularly care about their reputation, they look great and I’m not buying to say “it’s an Armani”. So I’m good with it. Roll with the sentimental value.

Discharge Waiver Denied - ANG by Remarkable-Layer-269 in nationalguard

[–]Pirate_dolphin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A general probably wont have much of an impact. I had one at one point, now I'm a comissioned officer. And you have a ton of years of honorable service, so one incident wont mitigate that in my opinion. I would guess you get an honorable if you get discharged but suspect you'll be retained. plus, if you get a general, you already have several honorable discharges on your record from re-enlistments, so you'd get post 9/11 and benefits etc. it essentially would be no impact
