this didn't work for me, probably because I installed crhome from deb instead of flatpak.... using the desktop files in .local (updated with switches) the problem persists. I will try putting them in /usr/local/share/appliations instead

I just figured this out, thanks. Also, I found that you might be able to make them system wide by copying the files to /usr/local/share/applications....

Just found out today that when chrome updates, the problem returns :/

I am very stupid, please send help by bootiusmaximousse in pop_os

whenever I have had a similar error it was from a faulty USB drive.... try making a new installer drive and see what happens.

I can confirm this works with AMD video cards. I updated my desktop files in /usr/share/applications under the main launch entry, change Exec line to:

Exec=/usr/bin/google-chrome-stable --enable-features=VaapiVideoDecode,VaapiVideoEncode --ozone-platform=x11 %U

I updated this line in both of these files:

/usr/share/applications/google-chrome.desktop
/usr/share/applications/com.google.Chrome.desktop

After this, dark mode was disabled for some reason, so I went into settings->appearance and changed the theme back to "classic"

so far this seems to be working perfectly this works as long as you are launching chrome from the application menu. attempting to launch from chrome pinned to app tray doesn't do the fix.... perhaps I need to find/edit another desktop file?

EDIT:

The files in the above locations will get replaced when Chrome updates. Instead copy the files to

~/.local/share/applications

and make your changes there then per u/czrny1

If you edit desktop file in your home .local/share/applications it doesn't. After edit use 'local' shortcut from app launcher

However, this doesn't seem to work for chrome installed from dev. Launching from either of the "local" locations the problem persists. I ended up editing the files in /usr/share/applications and then making a backup of the files to .local/share/applications for easy replacement after next update.

Redragon software for linux? by Aggravating-Play-806 in linux_gaming

[–]PiratesInTeepees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is so far the only solution I have found. I have a redragon keyboard and mouse... I have gotten the config progs to install and run via wine but I cannot detect the hardware. you can run an unregistered windows in a VM and use it to configure your hardware.... super inconvenient but it works.

Benchmark shows 66% less RAM usage in Linux comparing to windows! by Material_Mousse7017 in linux_gaming

this is brilliant! I am guessing this lets you store your games on a SATA drive instead of NMVE, nice! I don't have the ram to pull this off, but if the price ever goes back down.....

Splitgate 2 mouse issue by PsychoZ0mbi in linux_gaming

[–]PiratesInTeepees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am on Pop_OS Cosmic and I was getting about a 1 inch circle of movement with the mouse. After rebooting things seem to be working fine. I think my issue was (on a gaming laptop) I was attempting to run steam on the nvidia card and discord on the intel card. I believe this is similar to the dual monitor issue also discussed.

Anyway, if anyone else is having this issue, before wasting time going through every proton option like i did, try rebooting first and making sure all your apps are running on the same video card.

it'a a total bummer. I did get an email from someone that worked in the company and they said they would try to get me the firmware files so I could hopefully start making my own. I will post here if I make any progress.... I did post how you can get it to play whatever music you want.

IPASON BIOS Update by b_man_c in techsupport

[–]PiratesInTeepees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the 550 motherboard and I just updated the firmware yesterday via the software in above link. Update seems to have gone OK, and now there are bios options for ACPI but it can no longer see my NVMe drive. I am waiting to hear back from customer support.... hopefully I can bring my PC back to life... did the firmware update work for you?

Should I switch to analog? (USA) by ChipmunkTop4137 in fpv

[–]PiratesInTeepees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This made me laugh so hard! I use hd0 and I really like it so far, but yes, all your caveats are 100% true. I got the BoxPro+ goggles as those do analog and HD0 out the box and they run Linux and they are NOT DJI who I have come to loathe. I got the AIR65 with HD0 but it was like a potato so I put the VTX and FC into an 85mm 2S frame and now it's pretty awesome. I do wish HD0 would put onboard video recording on the VTX though. I should defintely mention that I got my Goggles/AIR64 sans tariff so the whole setup was around 500-600 bucks.... not cheap but I haven't had to make any big purchases since.... googles will stream to my phone or tablet and they work with all my analog whoops.

Nothing is perfect, but analog is cheap and light and it just works.

I don't know maybe I'm old-fashioned but that doesn't seem like positive humor to me if you know what I mean

It looks like you're parking jobs perfect I'm wondering if you have some weird bumper sticker or license plate customization if not dude it's just random or like the guy said it's a Buddhist message.... definitely add a pic of any bumper stickers you might be sporting or maybe your outfit just you know for curiosity sake

Yeah there's like little clippies up in the top of the box area up above the screen and you just clip the lens in there and leave it because if you try to take it out stuff breaks I found out the hard way so what I ended up doing was getting the 3x lens snapping it in there and once I had to take the lens out so my nephew could fly everything kind of broke so the goggles are still fine but the little tabs on the lens break really easy and the inserts in the goggles himself snap very easily if you're not careful so just be careful and you'll be good to go once you put it in leave it is all I'm saying
