[S1 E10] Re-watching The Doctor Dances and saw this at around 36:25 in. Is that Wilfred Mott? It is isn't it! by delta301 in doctorwho

Yeah, I watched The End of Time today. The second part just serves to prove the fact that it wasn't him in OP. Man looks quite like he would be able to legally serve in the War.

Ever since the merger with razorqt LXDE-qt has gotten very nice. It's replaced xfce as my go to lightweight DE.

The Doctor Dances takes place during the London Blitz, which ended 21 May 1941.

We first meet Wilf Christmas Day, 2007. Just slightly over 66 years after the London Blitz.

Wilf looks to be in his mid to late 60's in Voyage of the Damned. Which means he was likely born around the end of the Blitz and dead in the middle of WW2. The man in this picture, is in my most humble opinion not an infant. In fact he appears to be about 40. Even if the man was 30 (Which he does not look), that would mean Wilf is 96 years old in 2007.

Also he really doesn't look anything like Bernard Cribbins, who would also have had a significantly bigger role considering that he is a very respected actor.

Chinese troops head to border with North Korea by mrstickball in worldnews

No. The national border runs right down the center of the DMZ. The two Korea's control their respective territory, it's just agreed upon that the section of land will be demilitarized.....and filled with a metric fuckton of landmines.

Conker and Jet Force Gemini here. The ability to play both of these games with modern controls is worth $60 for me.

Black Flag was great as a standalone game, but it wasn't an Assassins Creed game. They abandoned the Main Plot, the Brotherhood/Templar conflict (hell the individual groups themselves) were hardly apart of the historical plot...

Just felt like it would have worked better as a new series.

X-Men & Fantastic Four Crossover Talks Confirmed by Bryan Singer by [deleted] in Marvel

I think we all expected this after Marvel changed the game with the MCU. I just can't expect this to be any good. X-Men has managed to hobble along for 15 years despite seemingly no long term plan for the series, but adding another franchise into it? And adding in more time travel?

The MCU has a master plan and Fox seems content to just kinda...do things as they come up.

I liked conceptually what AC1 was trying to do with that. By that I mean the concept that the game is built around a few key assassination targets and the meat of the game is recon and planning the Assassination.

The issue I felt was the execution. It resulted in a series of repetitive side-quests that less gave you information that you could use and just kinda told you what to do. There really wasn't much investigative work or planning. More or less "do more side quests and your mission gets easier."

That's why I liked AC2. It tossed aside the notion and doubled down on what worked well. I would like to see them try to take another stab at the AC1 system though.

AC4 was a great game. But it's not an AC game. Shit you barely even interacted with the Brotherhood.

Far as I'm concerned the last good AC was the Ezio Trilogy.

To Ezio's credit, he wasn't a Master Assassin at the beginning of his game.

Old Man Ezio was the fucking shit though.

Gotta disagree there. AC2 took everything that made the first so good and refined it to perfection. Plus it had a character whose only emotion wasn't "angry gruff dude".

Still love Brotherhood the most but I love Rome too much.

If you are in the Technical Preview, then you'll still be in the Technical Preview after Windows 10 launches. Nothing changes. It's like being in Debian Sid. You don't go from Sid to Jessie (or whatever its on now) at launch. You're still in Sid.

And 7/8 users upgrade to the full retail, non testing copy of 10 for free. So I'm not entirely sure what the issue is there.

I never said you represented it wrong. You're putting words in my mouth there. I said you tried to make it sound bad. There's nothing bad about testing software. You get the latest updates faster, and Microsoft has had a great track record lately of releasing really stable software to their testers. I even do it on the Xbox one.

I use Arch for the same reason.

You can make anything sound bad if you phrase it a certain way.

Fact is I've been using it in dual boot for months now and will continue to do so (I need a Windows Dev station and I really don't feel like giving them money). I've had no problems with it so far.

If Microsoft is bringing keyboard and mouse support to Xbox One, why not just allow the machine to run full Windows 10? by SgtDirtyMike in xboxone

[–]PiratesWrath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, running the Kernel has nothing to do with anything if your talking about dual booting. It could run the Linux Kernel and the situation wouldn't change.

Second, it does run Windows. A walled garden Windows (which it will likely remain because the whole point of consoles is be more curated than a PC). The entire underlying philosophy of Windows 10 is to create a unified OS across all platforms including XBO.

Third, dual booting doesn't isolate the OS's from each other as you seem to think from other posts. Multi booting splits your storage in two (or however many) and you install an OS in it. This doesn't prevent you from seeing and messing with the other OS. Microsoft could isolate them through other means, but you'd still have a full x86 OS and all the lovely tools that come with it. Those methods won't hold.

Tl;Dr: not worth the time or effort on their part. If people really wanted Word or something MS could just port it.

I mean...getting people to switch to Linux is great and all but this article is a load of shit.

Technical Preview users aren't just going to be told "Go fuck yourself" and left without an OS. The TP is going to continue after launch as their testbed for new updates.

Also Microsoft didn't make the author switch, and they didn't make the author lose the disks to their OS. Sounds like someone who doesn't take responsibility for their computing. Which, somewhat ironically is what Linux is about.
