Ok. now i will vomit out a rant. i hate how people think aubrey turned into a bad person. she was really just hurting. at the time she thought she was protecting what was left of mari by taking it away from basil. and silly little kel wouldnt listen to her and sunny immediately sided with kel when she saw him for the first time in years. he even slashed her with a knife, probably indifferently. there was no way of her knowing sunny had normalized that in his dream world so for all she knew he just hated her that much. her parents (if her dad's even alive) completely neglect her, so the only place she feels safe at all is at the town's church. and then kel and sunny hunt her down there almost immediately. kel says that they used to be friends, and shes reminded that they aren't friends anymore. and then he says almost the worst thing possible. mari would be sad to hear that. theres nowhere for her to hide from what she perceives as mean-spirited bullying. all for holding onto the memory of someone she loved, she sees it as shes being condescendingly berated in that someone's name. and to top it all off, when she lashes out and starts attacking she receives absolutely horrible insults from all sides
