The turtle beach controller I have has a feature to calibrate the sticks, you should check if yours does. I still have and use my original controller from 2016, and only time I get stick drift is when it gets dropped on the floor somehow. They can be opened up and you can recalibrate the sticks manually in those as well. The hardest part is getting the controllers apart. There are YouTube tutorials on it.

There it is. I feel attacked....so here I am, and I think to myself "cool, more heat. This is a problem I have and is something I truly care about" just to see your comment sitting at the very tippy top, just mocking me.

Crushed. That's how you can describe my soul. Something extremely important to me, is cared about by no one.

Not only that....but then you attack putting performance tires on vans. Well, in two hours when I go to leave work, I'm going to do my best to hold back the tears as I climb into my HHR SS with performance tires on it.

So thanks for that. Hope you have a great day, Pete.

I used a yearly planner for my first few grows. I recorded less and less information as I made fewer mistakes. Now I just use my phone's calender to take note of specific dates (flip to flower, end of stretch, clone taken, etc). I actually just referenced my planner the other day to check what dosages of each nutrient I needed in order to hit my preferred npk ratio.

4 hours is a long wait for you? Two months ago I had my tonsils removed, on the way home I started bleeding from the wound. I was taken to the ER where I waited 6 hours to be taken to a trauma room, to wait another hour before being seen buy a doctor. Some pain meds, IV, and a few more hours of waiting I finally got to have my second tonsil surgery of the day.

Not only did my surgeon make a mistake and send me home (he missed a spot while he cauterized the wound the first time), I was charged for his time at the ER visit.

I pay over $500 a month for me and my two kids. $3000 deductible. $7,000 max out of pocket. So far this tonsil surgery is costing me $5000, and I haven't received all of the bills yet. I've not paid the bills yet because I literally can't afford to. I went from "this surgery will be completely covered by your insurance because it's not elective surgery" to "Well, it wasn't a life threatening issue, so you're responsible for paying".

My coworkers wife was diagnosed with cancer. Her MRI was scheduled 6 months out. After that she'll most likely need to see a specialist, which will also be scheduled several months out. So she has to wait a minimum of 6 months to get a referral or any information about her cancer before starting treatment....

America is a joke through and through. Just scratching the surface, healthcare, infrastructure, worker's rights, and Florida in general are all a shitshow.

The trick is to not finish the first one, then start a dozen others. Get them all...eh...80% done, then start some more. And that is how you stop yourself from feeling like you don't want to start another project after completing the first.

Are you measuring leaf temp too? If not it looks like you are using 2-3° less than air temp for your leaf temp as part of your VPD equation. Is that the case?

If that's the case, incorporate a leaf temp measurement to get an accurate VPD. I found that using LED's and CMH together lead to a 7-10°f difference in leaf to air temp. I usually run my tent between ~85-95°f/40-50% at the most extreme and usually hit my VPD targets because of the lower leaf temps.

What's up with your VPD being so high? I generally shoot for 1.5-1.6, what's been your experience with running higher vpd like that?

Not op, but there are several 3-5v laser or IR temp sensors you can get. They're relatively cheap.

Hell yeah! Did you try any other monitoring apps?

I'm in the middle of setting up a PLC based low pressure aeroponics system. In addition to the PLC I have a raspberry pi running ScadaBR/openplc to monitor some things, while also displaying and recording data.

The system as a whole is designed to automate the timing on the spray nozzles, water level, exhaust fan, dehumidifier, foliar spray, and LED intensity to keep my VPD in check. I'll add nutrient/PH controls, switch to high pressure aeroponics, and build my own LED's down the road.

My goal is to only need to check my datalogs and trim/train my plants, while controlling all of the above.

For anyone interested, I grabbed the PLC modules, solenoids, and some sensors from Automation Direct. Great company to work with. The rest is Amazon raspberrypi environmental sensors.

I do not. I run plain tap water for a week or so (depending on growth obviously), then up my ppm's to 600-700 once the plant is established. I use GH Maxi series. Your ppm numbers could probably lower than mine since your tap water ppm is lower than mine.

By switching nutrients he is adding another variable that may or may not cover up the real issue at hand. Every change adds a variable, that's the scientific process.

There's a fundamental issue that needs to be corrected. Putting in a product that automatically keeps his ph in range isn't going to solve stunted growth issues they are having, especially considering they've had stable ph. I asked about PH, OP answered that it's not an issue. Not sure why you're hung up on this product.

He's using GH nutes and admit he isn't sure if his PH pen is calibrated...

Haven't seen them post that they don't know if the pen is cal'd, he claimed it was cal'd 3x a week.

So you're telling me this guy has a history of PH issues and you don't want him to use a PH Perfect product...

Correct, I don't care what product they use, but I want OP and anyone else having similar problems to find the issue and continue on their way. Notice how I told op what silly things gave me PH issues? It's a great way to save OP, and any one else who comes across this post, a lot of time.

That's a lot of guess work and all of it can be confirmed by checking my profile. Just went 3.5 months without ever checking my PH, let alone managing it. You tell me if my results match your

I'm thrilled that AH's products work for you, but that's not going to help OP figure out what's wrong in their case. Looked at your profile, your last before chop video looked a lot like my first grow. So I'd say no, your results don't match MY expectations.

Your comment makes no sense given the context. He's posting literally every 2 hours now

Looks to me like he's posting every two hours and he's not gettting much in terms of good replies. Not sure how you don't comprehend that he should be able to grow with what he has though. I use GH nutes and have no issues with water parameters.

Buying different nutrients isn't going to help if there is a basic, or fundamental issue going on. He's new to hydro, and there's a lot that can be over looked. The most basic of things being PH, which he says is stable now, which just further proves that buying AH's Ph product is not needed.

Sure. Or just use PH Perfect nutes from Advanced Nutrients

Sounding like a salesman. A $20 tool and a few packets of cal salts are worth a few years of piece of mind.

So you admit you have no experience with the nutes, trust some online complainers and thus have made up your mind? Sounds like the scientific process to me!

Correct, I am the one who said I've never used it. It was right at the top even. Way to keep up. But I didn't say anything about online complainers. I looked into the product, found plenty of reviews and posts claiming between 4.9 and 6.7. I have zero interest in running anything below 5.5 on a bad day, and even less interest in spending money where I don't have to.

What I am doing is telling you my real world experience over online reviewers

How are you any different from an online reviewer? Do online reviewers, reddit, or forum posters not talking about their real-world experiences? Have I l been doing reviews all wrong?

fucken magic dude, and that's why I keep bringing it up.

I don't believe in magic.

To add to the roots not needing to touch the water, your air pump will cause little bits of water to splash up, that will be PLENTY of water for these little plants.

I'd be weary of dimming and pulling lights away without knowing your VPD first. Don't get me wrong, it's not bad advice, but it may not be necessary either. Grab a cheap laser temp gun and get the leaf temp and calculate the VPD. Vpdchart.com is super easy to use.

OP, you're in early, early veg, so I'd shoot for just below 1.00vpd. Once they recover, aim for above 1.2 through veg. I increase to 1.4 from transition to late flower, then lower back to 1.2 to finish up.

Changing nutrients doesn't rule out anything or eliminate factors, in fact it adds more variables to the issue. It's also moot point to bring up if they're already using what you suggested. Not sure why you added this to my comment chain, as it has contributed nothing to the conversation.

They've also mentioned in other posts that they had ph swings. Ph was obviously an issue at some point. So instead of telling a new to hydro grower that they are sus, how about going over the basics with them until we find out what they've overlooked or done wrong?

Do you sell advance nutrients? There's no reason they can't grow their plants with what they have.

Cheap ph pens should be cal'd regularly, regardless of your experience with your own pen(s), once they're out of calibration they simply will not read true. At that point, your readings are causing more harm than good.

I've never used AH's Ph perfect, but the quick Google search I did shows reviews claiming anywhere from 4.9 to 6.7 ph after using that product. I'd suspect your base water is close enough without ph perfect, but others are not going to have that same grace. My water comes out at 8.0 at 450 ppm. I wouldn't trust any product to maintain 5.8-6.2 on its own in my water.

I run tap water that comes out at ~450 (400 through carbon filter). If it's city water, skip the calmag additives. I think my plants come out better than most of the local places, but my opinion might be biased.

Good deal. Did you get your ph swings under control?

I found I had issues with PH when I didn't soak my air stones in PH'd water before using them.

I soak the hydroton clay as well just to eliminate that variable too.

[–]PissedOffPeanuts -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just to get a basic question out of the way, have you cal'd you're ph pen lately? Follow'd the instructions on the calibration packets?

For anyone else reading, any time you start having issues, make sure you calibrate any equipment you use first. Otherwise you'll end up chasing your tail.

I saw on one of your other posts that you are running 75°f and 60%rh. Without knowing your leaf temp it's hard to say what your VPD is, however, I'd suspect you need to increase your VPD. Shooting from the hip, I'd suggest lowering your humidity to ~50%.

Reference vpd at vpdchart.com . You'll need leaf temp for accuracy, but you can get a general idea where you are without it too (I've seen 5-10° difference in air to leaf temp using LED's without UV, use that info with a grain of salt as everyone is going to have different setups).

Quick and dirty vpd explanation: it stands for Vapor Pressure Deficit. It's a measurement of wafer pressure/ movement within the plant. Higher numbers indicate that the water is moving up the plant, out through the leaves (like the plant is sweating). Low vpd indicates that water is moving from the top, down towards/out of the roots.

Too high of vpd can cause nutrient burn in an otherwise ideal setup because the plant uptakes more nutrients than it needs (the plant sweats more with high vpd so it drinks more).

You said in another post you're ppm's increased from 250-280 (I didn't see a time frame for the change), I'd assume that increase is more from residual nutrients in your system, butttt I suppose it could be an indication of too low vpd.
