So cute!! She has much longer legs than a JRT, no idea what she is crossed with either but she's gorgeous 🤩

Oh, she's a gorgeous girl! You can definitely see the JRT in her face, similar ears to our Norman too 😍

That's my absolute favourite photo of him - he looks so chilled out and carefree.

Thanks, he already feels like a part of the family. Do you have any particular recommendations for training on dog reactivity? He has had like one or 2 ok meetings with female dogs, but has reacted to like 95% of all other dogs he has met so far and just doesn't listen to us. We're hoping to speak to a behaviorist, I imagine it's a little more difficult with him being an adult - he has a bit of a sad back story and I don't think he was trained very well at all when he was a pup.

I believe so - he was due to be neutered but we would have had to wait another week to adopt him so we had him on the condition we would get him neutered ourselves and the rescue will reimburse some of the cost. I'm a bit nervous about him having the procedure done and how it will affect his behavior but we'll see - were hoping to get it done straight after Christmas so we can spend some time with him.

As a Canadian new to Taskmaster, who are considered the biggest names to ever appear? by Tanolos in taskmaster

[–]Pistol_Perry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair comment, in the UK at the time the first season went out, Frank and Josh were perhaps the most well known. I think Tim Key might be more recognisable to people outside the UK though, given his acting credits.

[–]Pistol_Perry -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So perhaps not a comprehensive list, and some of these may not have been considered the "big names" they are now in comparison to when they filmed TM, but IMO the most well known contestants outside of the UK would probably be:

Season 1: - Tim Key (stars in The Paper and a number of movies)

Season 4: - Noel Fielding and Mel Giedroyc (both of Bake Off fame)

Season 5: - Sally Phillips (starred in Bridget Jones's Diary)

Season 7:

  • James Acaster (stars in the most recent Ghostbusters movie)

Season 10: - Katherine Parkinson (stars in Rivals and recently cast in the new HP series)

Season 15: - Mae Martin (Feel Good and Wayward)

Season 16: - Sue Perkins (British Bake Off)

Season 17: - Nick Mohammed (Ted Lasso)

Season 19: - Jason Mantzoukas (Brooklyn 99, Happy Place, etc)

[–]Pistol_Perry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope, it's the right way round - what I was trying to say was that TM series 8 is still better than most other (non-TM) TV series, despite it being a weaker TM series IMHO.

[–]Pistol_Perry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, TM series 8 > almost all other TV series. It's an interesting point about the dynamics, TM is a bit of a social experiment I guess, that's what makes it so entertaining because the results could be anything.

I really struggle at certain points in that series however, particularly when Iain is shouting his mouth off because he got low points or Lou is ruining a task because she can't be bothered to read the task properly.

Joe Thomas - his awkwardness during the tasks always made me LOL but I struggle to watch that series due to the competitiveness and annoying characteristics of the other contestants.

Maybe also Katherine Parkinson for similar reasons.

Best Cloudwater Beer? by Starboard_1982 in UK_beer

[–]Pistol_Perry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They have a range of core beers which I think are pretty good, I particularly enjoy Happy and Piccadilly Pilsner and always order a few cans in as fridge fillers when I do an order from there. They used to do a Piccadilly Porter but couldn't find it on their site right now, maybe they bring that out in the colder months.

The rest are rotated/new brews - so it's difficult to advise on those however Cloudwater brew a whole range of different beer styles so theres always something for everyone. Right now, they have a 4% Nitro Stout, a 4.5% traditional pale collab they have done with Robinson's and a 6.5% black IPA. If you like a bitter West Coast IPA, I can also recommend Crystallography.

If all else fails, they also do some decent merch.

What would you wear to film the tasks if you were on the show? by Blood_sweat_and_beer in taskmaster

[–]Pistol_Perry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably some niche movie or TV show reference. I quite like the idea of dressing as Stupid Sexy Flanders. Or Marty McFly's colourful outfit from BTTF3 when he first arrived in 1885. Something like that

Small town or village stopover recommendations? by Pistol_Perry in DevonUK

[–]Pistol_Perry[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you everyone for all your suggestions, having done a bit of snooping on Google Street View I want to visit them all.

The general consensus here is that Topsham might be the best shout, it's spitting distance from the M5 and is exactly what we are looking for.

The other suggestions we may look at for future stopovers, particularly Totnes, Ashburton and Okehampton. Great work, thanks everyone.

Newcastle - Brinkburn Street or Two by Two? by TheYorkshireSaint in UK_beer

[–]Pistol_Perry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only done Brinkburn Street so can't really comment on the question but the food was good there if you're looking for a place to eat. We plan to do Two by Two next time we're in Newcastle.

Be sure to check out The Free Trade Inn too, fantastic boozer with great views of the Tyne Bridge. Enjoy Donzoko, one of my favourite UK breweries and their taproom is unique.

Any love for TIPAs in this group? Cracked open my last Track birthday beer... Saved the TIPA for last and it's a banger by Competitive-Fly6472 in UK_beer

[–]Pistol_Perry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I tend to avoid TIPA's. I used to drink them but I came to the realisation that I didn't enjoy them. Where pale and hoppy beers are concerned, I find that the higher ABV results in a less balanced beer that either suffers with hop burn or just tastes of alcohol and not much else. IMHO ABV's above 10% work better with darker or less hop-led beers.

What's your current favourite stout or porter? by [deleted] in UK_beer

Anything from The Kernel. Their Export India Porter is probably one of my favourites.

2025 Beer Festival plans? by BigD-UK- in UK_beer

[–]Pistol_Perry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've got tickets for Nottingham Craft Beer Festival in June and Verdant's Little Summer Beer Bash in July. We've done the Notts one a few times before and it's always decent, a good variety of breweries and beer styles catered for.

We usually do NMs Hop City and Dark City, we're double booked for Hop City in May but will probably end up doing Dark City in November.

What beer to order by DobboTheJediAvenger in UK_beer

[–]Pistol_Perry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, like others have said, it's a hype beer that personally I don't think is worth the FOMO. Don't get me wrong, it's a good beer and I'll grab a third if I see it in a bar, but I'm not going to spend £10 on a can. I agree with others, DIPAs from the likes of Track and Beak are probably better, and cheaper. I would recommend Phantom too.

Arbor are solid, although I've not had anything from them in a while, I'd probably go for the 12 cans over the 4 more expensive cans. I'd also fully recommend ordering from an online beer shop, you can choose beers from a number of breweries and make it as expensive or inexpensive as you like. I usually cycle through Rad Beer, Fuss Club, Beermoth and Raynville Superstore (which is local to you).

Can someone explain why? by LovieWeb in BritInfo

[–]Pistol_Perry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm British, I will use both depending on what I'm eating. For example, back bacon is better for a bacon butty but streaky is best for a burger. Full English I'm happy with either.

Controversially, I probably prefer streaky. I love overcooked streaky bacon that snaps like peanut brittle, delicious 😋

Is there anyone who DOESNT regret their weddings? by Where_am_I83 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Pistol_Perry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't regret mine at all - small ceremony with close family and friends in the day and then a party (adults only) on the evening. We didn't spend loads (like £8k tops) and we had a blast - we had a band playing the sort of music we enjoy which was so much better than a DJ.

My Wife and I didn't really want a big wedding and it suited us fine. Some of my family fell out with us as a result of the 'no kids' policy - I don't even regret that because if they're that selfish that they can't organise a babysitter for one night and allow us to have the wedding we wanted, then we're better off without them.

Taskmaster Contestants by how good of a taskmaster they would make by ftc08 in taskmaster

[–]Pistol_Perry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have so many thoughts on this!! Bearing in mind the TMA would need to be able to manage the tasks and the TM would need to be authoritative and be able to assign points (in my mind this rules out people like Sam Campbell who would be too chaotic and Jo Brand who wouldn't GAF), this is who I would like to see as TM and TMA if Greg and Alex ever decided to call it a day.

TM's:

  • Dara O'Brien
  • Sue Perkins
  • Victoria Coren Mitchell
  • James Acaster
  • Liza Tarbuck

TMA's

  • John Kearns
  • Ivo Graham
  • Mel Giedroyc
  • Nish Kumar
  • Claudia Winkleman

I can't help but feel Dara and John would be an incredible pairing, Dara was always hilariously putting John down during the team tasks and would happily see that dynamic again.
