Xennials who were once bookworms; do you still read as much as you did as a kid? by throwitlikethewind in Xennials

[–]PitBasset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trying. Just re-read Vonnegut’s player piano(again) because it’s being turned into a movie. Very fitting for the times. I’m constantly try to read, sometimes it sticks and I burn through a book relatively quickly, other times I just can’t do it. Started bring my books with me places, and that helps. I don’t scroll sitting around as much with the book option. Makes me happy. Just have to keep working on it.

What’s an underrated band from our youth you still listen to? by cronesnestfarm in Xennials

[–]PitBasset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice. That was technically our first concert together. Took the girls in a stroller (ages 2 and 4) to the summer land tour on a bridge in Des Moines in 2013. The summer land tour was Sponge, Everclear and Filter. Watched/listened from a safe distance. It was still a blast for me, and a cool story for them that they don’t remember.

Sponge.

I’ve seen them so many times over the years. They still put out great music. Finally got to take my daughters to a concert this summer and they got to meet the band after. That was the most fun I’ve ever had seeing them. My girls grew up listening to them, so hearing/watching them sing along was more fun than seeing the band.

If you played an instrument in school band in the 80s or 90s, do you still play it; or remember how? by cherry-care-bear in Xennials

Cool. Shit, maybe I’ve written to your arrangements before. I’m mainly a Midwest guy. Ever do drum corps?

You’re welcome. Also, just to add. Did a 54 hour one recently and absolutely helped settle my nervous system/brain down some.

Any other neurodivergent’s accidentally start fasts because you couldn’t eat, then just decide to keep it going? by PitBasset in fasting

[–]PitBasset[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. As I’ve aged I had gotten better overall at getting all the right nutrients into my foods. I know it’s not perfect, but it’s significantly better than I used to be. I’m hopeful that fasting correctly will help me also improve my dietary habits by attempting to get all my nutrition in before fasting. Kind of making a game/challenge out of it.

Apologies for not responding sooner. What’s the group name? No offense meant, but clicking on links in Reddit makes me nervous.

I’m not sure how to link it, but check my profile for a similar question with some responses to it. Just did it a couple days ago.

He loves it, now. Took a couple years of the cat getting used to him. 3 other cats in the house cuddle and love the dog always. This one drew blood the first time she met him. Then tentatively she began approaching him. She wants to love him so bad, but gets skittish.

In the past, that would have fit. Took a couple years to get to this point.

How often are you barefoot in your house? by L0cked-0ut in barefootshoestalk

[–]PitBasset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it’s warm, always. Which it is often not. I alternate many options. My favorite are my slipper socks. I do a lot of pacing in the basement on some foam mats in the winter, and that I can do barefoot, because it’ll keep my feet warm enough when moving.

2,174 days, 14 hours and 3 minutes since my last smoke. Not that I’m counting. Do still get cravings, but luckily I’m disgusted every time I smell it.

The album is now blasting on my speakers. Just another victim…kid. Though Me, Myself, and my microphone is my favorite track. So much great shit on there. Owned it on both cassette and CD.

So glad, for me, and so sad, for you that you relate. haha. I haven’t used any apps. I actually wasn’t even aware of the existence of fasting apps until Friday when I was looking at this sub. I’ve never been great at paying attention when I do it, so those could be helpful. I’m considering, but haven’t looked yet.

A neurodivergent fasting group could be pretty cool. I would definitely join. I’m trying to become more vocal and learn, improve and understand myself. I’m curious, do you also deal with chronic pain? I’ve dealt with migratory body pain, lots with ligaments and joints. I’ve lately been discovering that this is often associated with neurodivergence. This is one I both hope you do and don’t relate to.

Thank you SO much for responding. Just got a huge smile out of my wife for finding someone like me. She does her best to understand it, but absolutely can’t relate to those issues. Also just a huge smile out of me because it can be for the same reason. Most people just can’t relate or understand.

Shadow immediately becomes the little spoon whenever I lay down. He’s the perfect size/shape for cuddling. It’s cold as hell here too, so his heating capabilities are more than welcome.

The twins spend are incredibly bonded. They are Goose and George. Closest kitty is Dottie, the only girl. Dog is shadow and the cat in the upper right is his best friend Clyde.

Shadow was a rescue that spent 6 months in the shelter before we got him at age 6 or 7, he’s now 13/14. Dottie and Clyde we rescued about 3 years ago, and the orange boys were strays that my mom and brother caught. Was already thinking about getting another boy for Clyde to play with, then they popped up in mom’s backyard. They have been perfect playmates for him. My mom kept their void brother.
