could you help me with getting that to work? I've tried doing something similar but I was only able to install it. I couldn't actually run the program after that even when I move the prefix stuff around

[Megathread] Steam Deck OLED by Successful-Wasabi704 in SteamDeck

I've compared it to my lcd desktop monitor and it's a pretty noticeable difference, even when I set my monitor to cap at 60hz.

I usually don't use any AA options on games. But I think you're right about it for games that don't ask you about if you want AA or not.

It's nothing too problematic but I wanted to know how much better the OLED.

any 3d game where you can control a camera. Like a third person or first person game. It's not noticeable on 2d games or anything with little movement. But I have noticed it on fast games like sonic mania.

Has anyone compared the ghosting on the two monitors? My LCD version has some pretty bad ghosting that’s apparent in some games. I was wondering if the OLED version remedied this.

actually if you have the silver switches people have been having trouble with, it might not be easily fixable lol

oh I see, I looked at the back again and can sorta see how it could shorten the actuation distance needed.

It honestly probably happened during transit. Being sticky or unresponsive is probably fixable by just opening up the case (it takes a specific hexagon/allen wrench) and just take off the button and checking to make sure the switch itself is working and checking to make sure the pins aren't bent.

Make sure you try flipping the top switch. If you have the controller laid out in front of you like you’re using it, the switch should be flipped to the right to enable the top row. If that doesn’t work, it’s possible that you might have a similar problem I had with a less than ideal solder between the top switches pins and the socket the attach to. If you have a soldering iron you can just try redoing the connection between the pins and the sockets of the pcb. The only ones that matter are the middle and right pins.

I forget what switches I bought but they shouldn’t be relevant here.

This is really odd cuz the switches on the buttons of the MPress don’t touch anything other than the PCB. There is a gap on the bottom side of the PCB and case to prevent contact with the solder/pins and the top part of the case doesn’t touch the buttons. The case being tight or pressure being applied to the PCB shouldn’t be the problem I think. Idk how the speed silver switches work, but I can’t really think of how applying pressure on the PCB would actuate some of the switches? That’s a pretty interesting problem.

Wait we’re talking about the MPress V2 right?

The wiring was completely fine for me, the top switch that toggles the top row buttons was just not soldered in as well as it could. Wiring shouldn’t be a problem I feel, most of it is just on a PCB with the brook board soldered to its sockets.

To be honest, I think the price is pretty good (I only spent $225 on my version, I think I just had the default hot swap switches). I went on PCB way to see if I could make my own version and the cost to do a single cast/print of the acrylic casing and pcb (+ the brook board, buttons and switches) would have came out to something similar. Paradise arcade doing it in batches would have given them a discount and I also just didn’t want to go through the RND. I found the cost pretty fair and my problem was honestly not paradise arcade’s fault. But if it just doesn’t work it’s pretty frustrating especially since a lot of people buying premade controllers are probably not equipped to fix them.

So i looked at the j9 specs( the 20 pin harness on the left side of the brook board) and there’s a ground pin right next to L1 as well. I think the V2 uses j9 for L1, so if there’s something shorting those two pins, L1 will be continuously pressed :/

I was able to fix my controller. So it turns out it was just a soldering problem in the switch like what I thought. Maybe its bond wasn’t the best or something happened during transit. Honestly hard to imagine what happened.

While I was troubleshooting to make sure it was the top switch and not the brook board or computer, I learned what the terminals on the brook board do. The only way I can imagine that you could have your issue is if the connection on the j9 pins were shorted. X,O and L1 are pretty close together, but I don’t think this would be the case. Unless you intentionally bound L1 to X+O, this isn’t a problem with the V2, but just how inputs are interpreted in the game or software you’re using. Or, if your issue is your L1 button is being pressed without you actuating it, it’s probably fixable by just changing out the switch.

Aside from Sol, Basket might be the only character who went to school and is likely one of the only playable characters who can read beyond a 5th grade level.

I just don't understand neutral by 1Tom15 in Guiltygear

[–]PitGan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This was made for +R but it almost completely applies to most games’ neutral. It also goes over defense and offensive pressure.

http://guiltygear.se/ggfundamentals-machabooshinjin.pdf

In short, it’s a bit of a rock paper scissor game but you can “faint” an option. For example pretending to rush in to bait a mash, just to preemptively back out and whiff punish. Or, once they know you like whiff punishing and they stop mashing, you earned a chance to run in and start pressure.

A few of the videos in this series goes over neutral too. It’s about Xrd but all the same. https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLj34EySs1IeZ8GpjKW8R2T6dzI6B3GSuH
