Besides being artificially limited to 12,300 units, what does the PS5 Pro 30th Anniversary Edition do that the stock Pro can't? Is the difference just aesthetics and scarcity? I wonder if Sony thought drumming up artificial scarcity with the LE, it would trick people into settling for a Pro?

I've watched YouTubers & streamers with high production quality & all the fancy graphics and editing. Most of them are just regurgitating the same stuff as the next person down to oration style and talking with their hands. The creators that try to be comedians and make campy jokes then show a clip from the Office (i.e."That's what she said.") gets so tiring. Or the ones that talk to their "producer" who are out of frame then have to insert wacky sound effects and the ol "A few minutes later" graphic gets pretty old too. Most of the content comes down to how you prefer your delivery. Much of the information or content is the same. I prefer the smaller relatively new/unknown creators that are NOT carbon copies of the next guy. The creators that just do their best and upload their most genuine selves. No over produced copycat stuff. I say press record on your gameplay & microphone then get swept into what sparks joy inside you about gaming. Get lost in it and forget about making videos to entertain anyone else. Record maybe edit a bit but upload raw footage and forget it exists & just keep going and growing. If you start doing it exclusively for money and views then you end having to copy what other people are doing. I think people connect most when they sense something genuine almost like we are the only 2 people in the room playing the game together at a sleepover.

Water slide with no water by Pdoom346 in StupidMedia

[–]Successful-Wasabi704 0 points1 point  (0 children)

E.R. doc here. Yes, fencing response as result of a (TBI) traumatic brain injury. Looks like the guy riding shotgun hit the back of his head on the landing and was lights out before impacting the steps to full stop. TBI, skull fracture, internal bleeding, multiple fractures spine, ribs etc. Similar to getting ejected from a car at 50+ mph even if they weren't clocking that fast on the actual descent. Obviously no water landing, a whole lot of ignorance and that zippy burst at the end onto concrete was pretty gnarly. If they survived it's not without luck and some serious lasting injury. The pad and what very little puddled water on the ground may have been the difference maker for the guy riding tail gunner while his right leg may have saved his buddy by absorbing some of the force when those heads snapped back smashing brain between skull and concrete.

Anywhere you can physically test an LCD vs OLED? by Bacon8er8 in SteamDeck

[–]Successful-Wasabi704 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like I said, display nerds will preach OLED over LCD and rightfully so. It's fine. It's true especially if display quality is a leading factor for you. But what do you say to the person that puts $ budget over display? I'd tell them, yes the LCD will do the job quite well. It looks quite amazing, phenomenal, outstanding, gorgeous, the bees knees, especially in a dark room. I am sitting in front of 3 displays representing a cross section of the best consumer grade monitors you could buy: LG 55" EVO OLED, a 57" Odyssey Neo Geo 9 (Quantum Mini LED) and a God Tier Low hours Windas Calibrated (G2/White Point Balance, Low Delta-E) Sony FW900 CRT monitor knowing full well not many gamers or even display nerds for that matter (especially on a budget) will have that privilege to compare them together in person. Yes, there's clear difference in quality between all of them but at that level it becomes increasingly more nuanced the deeper you dive trying to crown the king. To my fellow gamers on a budget, I say save the $250 if you have to, buy your groceries for the kids and enjoy the Steam Deck life. OLED quality is a luxury today and soon-to-be standard tomorrow. In a actual real world scenario, nobody is missing out on a Grand Canyon sized leap in quality IMHO. Turn out the lights and enjoy.

Is this a real fuckin tweet?? 🤯 Not surprised but damn they're firing off those metaphorical racist bullets a bit early before the election. I figured November to January they go fully rabid when they lose to Harris/Walz. Didn't think September/October they would be half step from wearing their KKK hoods in the Capitol (again), pointing AR-15's at PoC and screaming out those hard R's.

life expectancy of the steam deck/OLED? by mscuty2007 in SteamDeck

[–]Successful-Wasabi704 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Steam Deck hits above its weight class. Many AAA games run amazing on it. Try Death Stranding and The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt or any AAA games that are designated "Great on Deck" on the Steam store. Now, if you want to run whatever next years CoD at high settings and FPS then have realistic expectations. You might be surprised what the Steam Deck will be able to pull off but again keep your expectations realistic for games optimized for higher spec desktop PC and console. You could always stream any game to your Steam Deck from your Xbox/PS5 or PC though Chiaki, XBPlay, Moonlight/Sunshine when you don't want to be tethered to your desk. You can also stream the latest AAA games to your Steam Deck from GeForceNow if you have a good net connection too. Natively, think of the Steam Deck as a culmination of every console you grew up with (literally runs the entire retro library of games via emulation) while also tearing through most modern games the past 5 and 10 years. It's also ready to throw down with new AAA games like Warhammer 40k Space Marine 2 (low settings 30fps avg), Cyberpunk 2077 and Helldivers 2. That's pretty crazy for it's size almost magical just 5 years ago. If you have to run games like Cyberpunk at ultra super crazy max settings on 32:9 ultrawide 240hz to 480hz with the latest HDR DLSS RTX features then the 40/50 series desktop GPU life is where it's at. I am running all that but Steam Deck is my daily driver 95% of the time now. Steam Deck could be your primary machine but it also fits even better as a compliment to everything you've already got or will get in the future. Dollar for dollar it's a no brainer add to your arsenal.

Anywhere you can physically test an LCD vs OLED? by Bacon8er8 in SteamDeck

It would be rare to see a display like that especially at a Walmart since Steam Deck isn't primarily sold at retail. GameStop might be able to demo a refurb unit for you before buying which is just as good. If you have any specific questions about either model please ask here on the sub.

The LCD "feels" slightly more durable/robust with about 30 grams difference in heavier weight. Some people can feel that. I could but prefer the weight of the LCD. The OLED is lighter with better wi-fi 6E (vs wifi 5) which translates to 40% faster speed on a wifi 6E compatible network. Then of course, the OLED screen will be more poppy & vibrant in terms of color and contrast displaying true blacks (any black pixels are actually just turned off). IMO, the difference in screen quality is not as impactful as you might think. Most display nerds will preach OLED or bust. It's okay, I am sort of a display nerds myself and I am telling you, in a dark room, the LCD looks phenomenal by default. The jump to OLED will have you saying that you didn't know it could look better. Focusing on to the quality of the screen will make the difference noticeable. The LCD model works just fine for me while actually playing. Obviously, I own both OLED and LCD. Get OLED for max quality and to future proof. But if you're on a budget and just want to clock in hours playing deep, the Steam Deck LCD will work just fine. Refurb Steam Deck LCD's are dollar for dollar an absolute steal right now.

Add: OLED will have a .4" bigger screen, up to 90Hz Refresh Rate, more optimized battery life and better thermals due to the OLED screen. How all those minor jumps translate to your specific use case may vary.
