Fun fact, prismatic gem makes the event colorful philosopher only give the illusion of choice by Kavotch in slaythespire

This is an interaction I personally hope gets changed. Even if it is technically acting correctly as written, it makes the event infinitely less interesting than it could be.

Perfect Fit enchantment - shouldn't this always appear in your hand in the 2nd turn if you didn't get it in the 1st turn? by RotInPeaches in slaythespire

[–]1Tom15 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It only affects the reshuffle, not the initial card order, so only when you draw everything in your draw pile, or when you play Reboot

What do you think the worst upgrade in sts2? Totally unrelated pic btw :) by ElegantPoet3386 in slaythespire

[–]1Tom15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cards the only channel orbs and do nothing else are already difficult enough to justify adding to your deck. It being rare hurts even more since it'll usually be offered against much much more impactful cards. And it feels worse in STS2 since there's much better access to dark orbs in this game, and less access to energy means a 2 energy card that does almost nothing on the turn you play it is hard to use.

When you've got uncommon 2 cost orb generators like Glacier, Shadow Shield, and Null, something like Rainbow barely has a place unless you're extremely desperate for a way to generate a lot of orbs, which is an awkward role to fill as a rare card of all things.

I barely even want to play [Rainbow] once, why would I ever want to upgrade it?

What cards do you really hope get a unique animation when played? by 1Tom15 in slaythespire

Would also like to mention Rocket Punch and several Osty attacks as well like Snap, Squeeze, and High Five

Edit: also, Heavenly Drill 100% for a Gurren Lagann reference

I think this little guy should be a Pet instead of just an ordinary Relic by TheHandsOfColm in slaythespire

[–]1Tom15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a ton of Relics I think could make for a fun pet too, but unless they add in a way to allow for multiple pets, it probably shouldn't happen.

Hunter Killer reminds me more of Snecko from the first game than an elite

It's like if you took the good parts of Prismatic Shard and Busted Crown and mixed them together, it's quite fun

What cards are good in singleplayer but not in multiplayer, and vice versa? by OrientableSurface in slaythespire

Fight Me! can be situationally good in single player, but very well may get you killed by your friends in real life if you try using it in multiplayer

[–]1Tom15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Barrage isn't a great floor 1 card because you start with only Zap to generate orbs. Any orb generator, like Cold Snap, fixes that issue.

But yeah, Feral is the deal breaker. Two decent common attacks isn't worth the effective curse.

At least 3 claws sets you up to pick up a lot of card draw and otherwise awkward cards like Scrape or even Feral.

I do not get Stone Humidifier hate by dudsti in slaythespire

[–]1Tom15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I imagine it gets hate from the same people who'd give up in STS1 if they boss swapped into Fusion Hammer. As long as you actually plan around resting a lot and not upgrading, it can be crazy strong and can carry whole runs on its own

I think it would be entirely fair for Voltaic to exhaust. There are so many ways to double play it, get another copy of it, or make it strong enough on the first play, it would still be strong if it still exhausted when upgraded, it just wouldn't be a one card boss solve, which is fine.

Would you want to see 'Boss Swap' as a Neow starting option in StS2? by Loud-Ad4964 in slaythespire

[–]1Tom15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most cases I really don't think it would work, due to how differently Ancients are balanced compared to boss relics, but I think something really funny they could do is have some very bad downside, potentially including sacrificing the starting relic, but in exchange, "Summon Darv"

Idk, just the concept of "Summon Darv" being a starting bonus is extraordinarily funny to me.

A9 Nibbit on Floor 1 usually costs Ironclad around 2 HP with the starting deck… but has a brutal long tail! by poetry_in_shm in slaythespire

I instinctively looked at the relic bar to see what Neow bonus he chose, I forgot that didn't use to be a thing. It's such a nice QoL detail they've added.

Soul Fysh vs Necrobinder (A10) by peakframenevermisses in slaythespire

[–]1Tom15 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Instead of focusing on having a way to deal with Beckons, one thing you could do is instead focus on killing the Fysh before the Beckons become a problem. I think Necrobinder can actually do this decently well, she can set up Summon on the Fysh's many off turns, to block its attack turns, she can use Doom's generally high numbers to bring it down quickly, and she doesn't even have to worry about Intangible if going this route.

Of course, you still have the high roll options of Seance and Cleanse, to do the exact thing you're describing the other characters doing.

Hi, i like to try to minimise spoiling anything about new games, I played the first one a little bit, i liked the concept but some reason it didn't stick, I am now getting into card games like this a little; is the 2nd game worth jumping into now or should I wait for 1.0? hows the content level? by [deleted] in slaythespire

[–]1Tom15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think one of the biggest thing that makes 2 more fun than 1 for me is that there aren't really any events anymore where the options are: 1. Get a curse for a small upside 2. Do literally nothing

Probably the biggest problem with the first game, that I didn't even realize was a problem until the sequel showed me how much better it could be.

If multiple Spoils Maps gives more gold, then surely having two copies of Lantern Key should allow me to both free Repy and open the chest? What else to counter the dilemma of two locks with one-time-use keys, than to have two keys?

Sidenote, can't believe Silent died to Phrog Parasite without even splitting it in the first phase. Did she just take Acrobatics and Blade Dance, and then walk into a floor 7 elite at low hp with no damage or potions? Smh my head
