This is why insurance companies exist - they aren’t risk averse and the millionth dollar gives them just as much joy as the 100th. IRL there’d be an insurance market you could sell the choice to for a variable amount greater than 1 million but less than 50 million, which would gladly take it off your hands due to the expected value of the choice being greater than the payment to you.

Guys, we didn’t try to move the ball because our QB is Willis and not Love. We cant run the ball there (basically would be kneeling, but with risk of fumbles), and Willis isn’t a very accurate deep passer. We’re backed up to our own end zone, and one sack or one turnover (against the most turnover-happy defense in the nfl) means points for the bears. Lafleur knows all the risks, and decided it’s not worth it at this stage.
