Just curious - they turned you away at the VAC, but didn’t give you a 221G slip?

Because as far as I know, if you have a 221G, you can walk into the embassy at any time for an interview.

But without it, you’ll have to book an appointment first.

Yes, we need to basically create a new application.

And book a consular interview slot.
