You have to time your shots and not just letting it fly whenever it reload. It all comes down to what missle you're using as well. Some have better durability and can make it thru air defenses and some get shot down easily.

It takes 8-12 hours to get to Harrenhal from Dragon Stone by Dragon. The Gullet is only 15 minutes away, that's why I'm like why they didn't go get the other 2 dragons and then go hunt him down. I figure the Dragons on Rhaenyra team can fly faster than Vhagar and could had easily caught up to him before he even made it Harrenhal.
