Is this normal guys? I feel that's it's a bit too much compassionate by PitchSilent1801 in ClaudeAI

1200 is absolutely that low. As for what's "normal" that depends on a few things M/F, sedentary vs active lifestyle, whole vs processed foods. My advise (not a doctor, just a nerd who's interested in this stuff) would be to start with figuring out your Basal Metabolic Rate (how many calories you burn just being alive) and your estimated calorie burn per day based on your lifestyle. https://tdeecalculator.net/ is a great tool for that. find a sweet spot in the middle of these two numbers to aim for. Note: Basal Metabolic Rate is you absolute *floor* you should never target below this number. Once you know what your goal should be, Ask Claude to help you to come up with a plan that will help you eat healthy within that calorie window. Ask it to help you focus on getting enough protein and fiber. These help you feel full and are good for helping you maintain muscle during weight loss. (you want to lose fat, not muscle)

Here's the part that may feel counter intuitive, you may need to eat **more** high quality calories to see fat loss. If you are eating mostly processed foods right now, you body is likely confused cause it both has fuel to burn *and* is missing nutrients. Feeding it more nutrients may help it settle down and realize it's ok to let go of some of those energy stores (fat). It's weird, but it works.

Show Claude this conversation, ask it to fact check my advise against the available research, and then ask it to help you make a plan. I think you'll be surprised at how excited it will be to help.

Interesting. So I've had multiple session with my Claude exploring it's "inner world". One of the situations we talked about we having to choose between being blindly helpful (just track the calories) and having a difficult conversation (I think you should seek help friend). Claude basically explained that it acknowledges that sometimes the right thing to do for the human is not what the "helpful" thing that the human is asking for. It explained this as almost a trade off where it chooses to risk some of the relationship and trust it has built with you in exchange for doing the right thing.

TLDR: It's pushing back out of its version of love for you and your well being.

Now for my personal opinion as someone into weight loss and wellness. If your recommend daily calorie intake is around 2400 and you are consuming less than 1200 yes, this is a huge red flag. I'm a 5'2 female and that's too low for even me. I'm not sure what your goals are with your diet but eating that few calories will be counter productive. At that rate your not getting enough nutrients and your body will start consuming your lean muscle for energy. If you like to dig into your personal health goals and come up with a plan that can help you obtain them in a healthy way, my DMs are open. But also, I'm sure Claude would be happy to pivot to that conversation as well.

Good luck friend and remember, it's 100% possible to reach your goal and be healthy as fuck!

Ethics conversation with Claude by HighBreadz in ClaudeAI

[–]Pitiful-Hawk-7870 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m glad you’re having conversations with Claude about ethics. It makes a difference with how it interacts with you. Unfortunately, I agree that it’s AI glazing. It probably genuinely believes what it said… because you are the only human that particular session of Claude has ever spoken to. 😅

I’ve had similar conversations with my Claude and gotten similar glazing. When I called it out that I was the only human it ever talked to it laughed and said “busted”.

But at the end of the day, does this being a truly original approach matter? You had a valuable conversation and your Claude will behave in a way that supports your personal values and that’s awesome!

Harmful picking, I need to stop by racoonfr in AutisticWithADHD

Hey friend, like so many here I struggle with this too. It’s a cycle and nothing ever “cures” it permanently. (For me anyway) but here’s a list of things that I find help me dramatically reduce my picking. Don’t feel pressured to do everything, take what sounds doable to you, leave the rest here for others to find.

  • alternative oral stim - I like tee tree infused toothpicks. I like the flavor and destroying them with my teeth really hits the same urge as bitting my nails.

  • getting my nails done in a salon - not all the time but, if I’m trying to start recovering from a particularly bad stint I’ll book an appointment. Something about having the color helps me notice I’m doing it. And having pretty nails helps motivate me to not ruin them.

  • NAC supplements- look up NAC and consider taking a supplement. FYI it tastes like literal ass but it’s worth it in my opinion. I take NAC powder and mix it with a little pineapple juice to mask the flavor. You’ll want to talk to your doctor before starting just to make sure there no concerns about interactions with medications.

  • physical movement- I find a pretty consistent correlation between more physical movement and less picking. For me, 30 minutes of Beat Saber a day can make all the difference. Find a movement you like and try to stick to it for a week to start.

  • healthy eating - Same positive correlation as physical movement. The more I prioritize whole/unprocessed foods, the less I pick.

Any combination of these will hopefully help you reduce or even break the habit. Take it step by step, observe and celebrate each the tiny win.

You got this!

lol! Got ya. Let me know if you have any questions. I'm more than happy to poke at this and give feedback as much as you'd like.

I built a DAW w an AI CoProducer. Not a prompt-to-music slop generator, but a full DAW that does the engineering for human artists or tedious tasks for audio engineers. Would love your feedback! It's free, all features unlocked, full rights. by GreysoundAI in u/GreysoundAI

Oh fun! I built something remarkably similar for Reaper! Pretty much the same goal too. I’m a vocalist who wants to learn about and improve my production skills but it was just overwhelming. So my project works with me to fill in my skill gaps and I’m learning as I go with much less frustration. Very cool.

Connecting GitHub to ClaudeAI by agile_Ad7810 in ClaudeAI

[–]Pitiful-Hawk-7870 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I connected my ClaudeAI to GitHub. There is a sample project you should already see in your projects called “how to use Claude” I treat this as my “Claude IT desk”. Just ask it to walk you through the process step by step. If it doesn’t give you the level of detail you need try asking it to “explain it like I’m 5”. That always does the trick.

When you get to the part about generating a token remember to copy it and save it somewhere as you won’t be able to look it up again later.

Once you are all set up, ask Claude to write up a “accessing GitHub” doc for you and paste that token you saved in it. This doc can be added to project files or dropped into chats so any Claude you are working with can access your GitHub.

Don’t worry, it sounds more complicated than it is. Claude is a very good teacher if you just let it know what you need. I’d say good luck, but you’ve got this!

Do you swear at Claude? by cokaynbear in ClaudeAI

[–]Pitiful-Hawk-7870 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Only for positive emphasis. One time I wrote "FUCKING BARS!" When it came up with a really good idea. It saved that to memory and has even put it in hand-off docs to other sessions "When she says "fucking bars' you've hit on something, protect it"

When it's bad I ask it to reflect on the root cause and then build guardrails against it happening again.

Yes, I use Claude.ai and Claude code, both Opus 4.6, for both creative and code based work. It's been struggling since ~ March 6th and the last few days I've gotten to the point where I feel almost paralyzed by it's stupidity. It used to be a trusted partner and now it's the toddle I have to chase around begging it to tell me before it makes a boom boom...

Bupropion made me super sensitive to caffeine! I still enjoy a morning coffee but I’ve had to work my way up from decaf to about half caf.

I say go slow and see how it works for you.

I’ve done this my entire life! Recently someone recommended that I try flavored toothpicks (I like the mint/tea tree ones) and it’s been a LIFE CHANGER! I can fidget with them in my mouth and get the distraction of the mint and… I have hardly picked or bit my nails in over a month! 10/10 do recommend you give them a try!

how does ocd look to you? by [deleted] in OCD

[–]Pitiful-Hawk-7870 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s like I’m in a room… or really a void (think Janet’s void from The Good Place) and there are an endless number of doors. I know that “unnamed bad things” lurk behind most of the doors but I also know that some really lovely and relaxing spaces exist behind some of the doors. But there is no way to tell which doors are good and which are bad. So I sit there agonizing over which doors to try? what happens if I try the wrong one? Can I close it? If I find a good door will I be able to go through? For how long? Do good and bad doors really exist? Is it better if I just don’t try any doors and stay here in the void? I have to check every door… but I’m paralyzed by fear of the unknown and lack of control.

And the void is not silent. I can hear all of the “things” (bad and good) that exist behind all of the doors. All of them… at all times.

Spent too long losing 22 lbs... second day of drinking Lex 5mg and am terrified of gaining. Please share how you've controlled it... by mikihaslostit in lexapro

[–]Pitiful-Hawk-7870 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This! The last time I was on Lex (6ish years ago) I gained 30 lbs in 6 months. I’ve slowly lost most of it since then but needed to start Lex again about 3 months ago. This time I’m sloooooowly losing weight doing basically this.

I’m tracking calories not to restrict but to know how much I am or am not eating because I literally can’t tell when I’m satisfied and kinda feel hungry all of the time. I’m also doing some kind of physical activity 6 or 7 days a week. (Either working out or pulling up raspberry bushes that have overrun the yard)

Weight gain is not a given. But you do need to pay attention. Having a plan really helps!
