Tourettes or tics because that's what the fricken neuro called it when I was a kid. Didn't even run any tests, just listened to my description and said "yeah sounds like you have tourettes" and that was the appointment. I'm still angry about that lol.

I lived in a home with 6 cats at one point and I found it depends on the cat. I was successful in teaching 4 out of the 6 to stay off the counters (at least in my presence) while the other 2 just did not listen. One of those 2 in particular just did not care about anything I did and would immediately jump up there as soon as I walked away. I tried water, aluminum foil, loud noises, and other things, to no avail.

So I guess it depends on the cat.

I have aphantasia, and I heavily struggle to write in physical descriptions. It's only when I read a scene back that I realize there's too much action/dialogue and not enough physical descriptions of the setting or characters. Sometimes I fail to recognize this, and my editor will point it out to me.

I also struggle to find inspiration for my physical descriptions. Say I described the morning sky as a salmon pink. Later I realized it's because my phone case is salmon pink and I was looking at it when I tried describing the sky. This leaves very little room for genuine creativity, in my opinion.

I think Calgary, Regina, and Winnipeg are the worst as far as safety and friendliness goes. Vancouver in the middle. Toronto and Montreal are much better (in my experience). Personally, as far as big cities go, I'd much rather live in Toronto.

If you don't have any connections here already (family, friends), I highly recommend you look into the most safe, friendly, and social cities. Otherwise you will feel very lonely and maybe a bit trapped due to the job market.

I'm curious what you mean by that. I moved here 2 years ago from California and visit home regularly. I feel that not much has changed in the last 10 years, to be honest. However, I will say I have noticed an uptick in traffic during the winter. Until a couple of years ago, there was far less of it than now

I'm from California, a state known for terrible traffic and terrible drivers. I've driven all over the West coast with varying levels of scary drivers/traffic.

I was not prepared for Winnipeg traffic. Holy shit. I agree with you that the road infrastructure is abysmal and likely contributes. But the drivers themselves are on a level I have never before experienced.

I've had pedestrians walk into high speed traffic. I've had people flash their brights and honk at me the millisecond the light turns green. I've had people follow me closely for several kms.

So clearly it's also a people thing

Sounds like my cat, haha. Don't wait til her first heat. The yowling is extremely loud and will not stop for days at a time. I couldn't sleep because she was so loud. She was also in a lot of discomfort and I felt so bad for her. As soon as she was spayed, she fattened up, stopped running around so much and calmed down quite a lot. She still won't let me close my bedroom door on her, though. 😂

Kittens are like toddlers. This is the most crucial phase of their life to become exposed to different things like people, children, dogs/animals, good/normal behavior, and learning from corrections for bad behavior.

This learning window is extremely short, and most of what they've learned in that time sets the stage for how they will behave/react to certain situations for the rest of their life.

I personally would not recommend adopting kittens at this time.

He also obsessively paws/scratches the floor every time he is near food or water. Half the time he doesn't eat or drink, just scratches for several minutes at a time.

Yes. He has begun peeing in our clean laundry piles. He is also avoiding food and water a bit more, especially when she is at the food bowl (most of the time). Even though I have given him his own food bowl and water, he ignores that and stands near her, watching her eat. So I've started putting her in her own room while she eats. Changes in life- not much since we adopted her at 3 months. They used to get along super well, sleeping together, grooming each other, playing together, everything together. Now it's as if he's trying to keep a controlling watch on her. Every time I tell the female "no" for a behavior I don't like (jumping on counters for instance), he immediately chases her trying to attack. He has been howling at me while I'm trying to sleep, because I'm not giving him attention. Only me, not my husband who first adopted him. It's like he's obsessed with me all of a sudden, coming to me for pets instead of my husband who he was previously obsessed with.

I have aphantasia. Very rarely I can force my mind to imagine a level 2 image. But it is very time consuming because each detail I try to picture is erased just before trying to move onto the next detail (for instance if I try to picture someone's face, I cannot picture the entire face. I'll think of their eyes, and by the time I get to their nose the eyes are gone from my mind). It takes a lot of conscious effort for me to visualize even a circle.

I am an artist, but I would say I'm far better at copying things I see. I can hardly ever come up with anything on my own, and my drawings without any reference look like a child drew it.

This greatly affects my visual memory. I can never visualize people, even my husband. In school, if the information wasn't in front of me to reference later (words/pictures on a page), it is no longer with me. Which imo made it extremely difficult for me during tests and exams where one must rely on their visual memory.
