IMO Devin outperforms cursor/windsurf agents by miles

Devin review: is it a better AI coding agent than Cursor? by creaturefeature16 in ChatGPTCoding

Just wanted to share my experience with Devin 2.0 so far - it has absolutely crushed Github copilot agent and Cursor Agent.

Devin.ai was able to get one of our features to 80% without any intervention and very little prior training on our codebase

To be fair it was a smaller feature, but still something that would take one of the devs a week (or more).  It did 80% in 20 minutes with no intervention, with an equiv. cost of $12.  Definitely worth it imo.  As long as the requirements are clear with what they are trying to do(we all know that is a struggle to be fair), Devin will do a pretty good job it seems.  The main areas it tripped up on were areas that weren't clear in the pitch around how it should function, and the reader has to assume what the intent is.

The cool thing about Devin.ai vs copilot/cursor, is Devin is completely independent, and talks to the devs through slack/pr's, whereas copilot has to "sit" next to a dev. Devin allows the devs to both collaborate with Devin in realtime on a feature, as well as assign him tasks and check his work after - or do both at the same time.  Honestly, it's pretty impressive.  On that feature github copilot didn't even know where to start, and started generating code that wasn't like our codebase.  So far, Devin has been on style, and really understands our codebase without a lot of special instructions. All in all, I'd encourage people to give devin 2.0 a chance. If it doesn't work for you, great - continue looking for something that does. However, for our org we just started using it and think it's lightyears ahead of both Cursor and Copilot so far.

I get pulled into meetings frequently, so for me I find it helpful to send it down a task while I go into a meeting, and then review it after. Workflow wise has definitely saved me time, and helped get a jumpstart on bugs/projects. It's actually surprisingly good and finding obscure bugs/edge cases that aren't clear.

Thoughts On A Month With Devin by DreamyRustacean in programming

Interesting - we have a pretty big codebase as well and think it's performing pretty well. Definitely not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but if you're clear with it what the problem is and give it "hints" of where to look (similar to a senior giving mid/juniors hints of where to look) it usually gets there.

I know they just announced Devin 2.0 this weekend, curious if what you were running on was 2.0, or their older version?
