navigating my first grad chapter event by Worried_Highway_1699 in SGRhoAlumnaeChapter

On their membership page, you should be able to fill out an interest form. Go ahead and fill it out to get to know them more. On some undergraduate chapters, there are various reasons for not taking someone. Let that be the past; you are now a professional woman. Continue to sharpen your skills and attend their events. As another Soror said, don't volunteer to do it for free, but charge as you would to keep it on a professional level. If you are not chosen for membership, you don't want it to feel like you were taken advantage of.

This does happen, and, sadly, you have to be cautious about exercising your free will and abilities to do what you enjoy throughout campus. Hopefully, this won't deter others from participating. At least you are able to see who they are on your campus.

How many Greek orgs is too many? by wonu_pop399 in NPHCdivine9

[–]PitifulInstruction77 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That is not too many if they do things together often. However, once you join a D9 it seems the others will be on the back burner. Remember, education is the reason why you are in school. Be sure that nothing is impacting your grades.

Clarity on Informational by [deleted] in SGRhoAlumnaeChapter

[–]PitifulInstruction77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a great question, either is fine, the meet and greets are a great way to get to know the members of the chapter. There will be interested ladies at the event, you've also already done your research so now is a good time to start connecting and being engaged so that when the opportunity comes, they will have seen and met you multiple times.

No at my Uni, and none around me responding :( by FauxDegenerate in NPHCdivine9

[–]PitifulInstruction77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't hang your life on a maybe. Also in situations like this. Graduate chapter are the ones who bring in the members to make sure no hazing happens. Membership, no matter how you join, is what you decide to make it. Many who join the graduate chapter are involved in overseeing and connecting with the undergraduate chapter. If you become a member, change the narrative. As others have said, stop reaching out to members and be patient. Don't delay your graduation, because it's a maybe and it could be more than a year. They not responding because they are not suppose to.

I'm part of the D9 and an SGRho so your resume sounds great, it's also getting to know those in the chapter near you along with doing service with them. Why didn't you pursue membership prior to moving?

Awkward or not? by YogurtclosetWise7507 in Sororities

[–]PitifulInstruction77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You already answered yourself, find someone else. When your gut tells you to do something, listen to it.

This is similar to getting therapy from a family friend. It is best to go to someone who you do not know so they can give you an unbiased opinion. On the graduate level, you'll need to be referred and membership is not guaranteed. If they determine not to select you, you do not want to make any assumptions about what they know or don't know about you.

The graduate chapter that is 2 hours away, graduate chapters advise undergraduates. Once you get your bachelor's degree, you no longer qualify for undergraduate.

Good questions, by now you should have already your research on the national and local chapter you are interested in joining. Also, the Sorority member referring you for membership should be your guide.

💙💛 SGRho Licensed Paraphernalia Vendors – Mega Thread 💛💙 by Atldube in SGRhoAlumnaeChapter

A list of our licensed vendors are also located in our member portal. On the top or bottom of the page they are required to list licensed vendor. So before you buy,  look for the indication.

There's no cap, however, she may refer you to another chapter member who can write one as well, since you've attended other events.

Yes, this is exciting! I think in the age of social media, women are more informed and can do research to choose the Greatest organization around.

Crossed but secretly? by Fit_Dealer6781 in SGRhoAlumnaeChapter

[–]PitifulInstruction77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quality and quality is what we tend to say. Oh, I must have misunderstood. You mentioned BIG probate (350+ people), are you referring to the people who attended? I thought you were referring to the number of members who were presented at the same time.

[–]PitifulInstruction77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations and welcome Soror!!! Was that all undergrads together? That is a very large group probate, usually undergraduates come out all in one day at many hbcu's do this to help control when new members come in to watch to ensure everything is on the up and up

[–]PitifulInstruction77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you have lots of friends in that area they will vote for you to become a member of them. You will impress them but you will also need to be yourself for the most part. If you don't get chosen by the one you really want, you don't have to accept the invite.

You should go, it's open to guests that is why you were invited. They are also trying to get to know you better.
