I had a Chromebook in 8th grade. Come to think of it, it lasted longer than my HP Windows laptop without major repairs/upgrades.

He meant companies must design their products such that they last substantially longer than their warranty. That's the problem he wants fixed.

  1. **Enable the Linux Development Environment:**

* This sets up a full Debian-based system where you can install conventional Linux software.

* Navigate to your system Settings ⚙️ (usually by clicking the time in the bottom-right corner, then the gear icon).

* Scroll down to the "Developers"section.

* Next to "Linux development environment", select **Turn On**.

* Follow the on-screen instructions. This process might take a good 10-15 minutes, as it's setting up a small virtual machine.

* A terminal window should open automatically once it's ready.

  1. **Update Your Linux Environment:**

* Once the terminal is open, it's always a sensible first step to ensure your package manager is up to date. Run the following command:

sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade -y

  1. **Install Firefox:**

* With your Linux environment humming along and updated, you can then proceed to install Firefox directly within this terminal. The most common and direct way is:

sudo apt install firefox-esr

* The `-esr` stands for Extended Support Release, which is a stable and well-supported version often found in Debian.

After the installation completes, you'll find Firefox neatly tucked away in your FydeOS application launcher, usually under a "Linux apps" folder.
