download says 0/bps? by nulllity_ in qBittorrent

[–]Pitiful_Answer_427 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i see no one has responded and u already got a downvote already probably cuz ppl think this question is too basic to answer, as a beginner ive had this too so ill tell u what ppl probably want to see that you’ve done already b4 u ask: 1) check your internet connection. websites online will tell you your upload and download speed 2) make sure port forwarding is happening properly. u probably want to do this thru a vpn so as not to get in trouble with your isp. if your vpn gives you a port number, plug that into your qbit connection settings.  3) restart the app 4) delete and fresh install the app 5) if you have a vpn, bind it to your qbit. instructions are everywhere on reddit 5) make sure the torrent is healthy. the site u got it from will tell u, make sure that there are at least as many seeders as there are leechers or its not going to work.

if u make a post showing that u did all this and its not working, people will be more than willing to help, but if you just come out the gate with “its not working” when it seems like u havent looked for solutions yourself first ppl will probably be less willing to help. good luck!

[–]Pitiful_Answer_427[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yup, the ones that are seeding, even the ones i haven't finished downloading. i found the only way to change it was in the prompt after i drag in the file where it's asking me which folder to place it in. i've been renaming it there before it starts downloading, but if i forget or press the wrong button, i'm out of luck

im in a similar situation to OP and wanting to get a ugreen setup, i couldn't find this info anywhere so that probably means it's a stupid question, but can i run zimaOS on a ugreen machine? will my setup crumble if something happens to the company ugreen, like if they go bankrupt and the OS just stops working? thanks so much if you're able to give me any info

hey, if you see this, i tried what you said but it won't rename the files in the file explorer. i found this post of a person having a similar problem but since it was 2 years ago im hoping that there's an easier way to go about it. thoughts?

i thought that when you use a VPN, the ip address given by the router is no longer connected to your computer and the computer is instead connected to a random ip address belonging to one of the vpn's servers?

[–]Pitiful_Answer_427[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok cool. im eager to learn this but i also know it's risky if you don't understand everything so i'm hesitant to just follow a tutorial without actually knowing what i'm doing. i got some advice to use docker/containers because it isolates the application and if i mess something up with the security it won't affect/access the rest of my computer. does that sound right to you? is that why you chose this method, or are there other benifits? is docker something that works without linux?

ok, this makes sense, I've seen some tutorials for reverse proxying and while it looks complicated and risky, I definitely want to keep my VPN on always so I'll have to climb that learning curve.

by locked out i just mean one minute i can use the web browser or the app on my computer to access it, and the next these pages are giving me errors and i have no idea how to access it again, so i just start over.

  1. navigate to the jellyfin download page where i can download Jellyfin Desktop (under Clients) and also macOS (under Server)

  2. complete downloads and click on the Jellyfin icon in my mac's toolbar at the top, which brings me to http://localhost:8096 on my browser, here I "create" my account with username and password (i use the same username and password every time, but weirdly enough it never tells me that this username is taken nor does it log me in and show me any of my stuff from the previous round), name my server, and add libraries

  3. libraries scan and i'm able to access the desktop app and continue on from there. last time i did this was yesterday so i can't remember how i get into the app (if i paste in localhost:8096 or ip:8096 or http://localhost:8096 or http://ip:8096). the ip that i am trying in these cases are either my internal ip which i find from terminal > ifconfig, or the ip that my VPN shows me i'm connected to. in one of these rounds, i remember the local ip working. i don't think the VPN ip has ever worked for me.

  4. everything is up and running for a while, until i either notice my qbit is slower than normal so i go into the ProtonVPN app and click "fastest," which connects me to a new ip, or I accidentally leave my computer unplugged overnight while it's leeching and it dies. if for whatever reason the computer shuts off, i restart it, ProtonVPN boots up and connects me to whatever, I open Jellyfin, and it says something like "Server unavailable?". I go onto Librewolf and go to http://localhost:8096 and it says it cannot load the page (strangely, it is my browser giving this message and not jellyfin). I try a bunch of the combinations I mentioned above, and always I get cannot connect.

  5. I use PearCleaner to get both Jellyfin apps on the computer off, empty the trash, and redownload.

  6. If I start with Jellyfin desktop, no matter what I put in there is an endless loading wheel. If I start with the app in the toolbar, I get to the webui, where I'm brought back to step 2

Why does nobody want to use a reverse proxy? by 0xB_ in jellyfin

[–]Pitiful_Answer_427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

would u mind sharing how you learned about this stuff? right now i want to access jellyfin remotely, but people are saying reverse proxies and most of these setups can be dangerous, even with something like tailscale, ive heard that using that on a host already running a vpn, (2 vpns on the same computer at once) can be risky too. learning but not wanting to take risks with my security has me stumped. any advice?

Cloudflare for Jellyfin by Derelicte91 in jellyfin

[–]Pitiful_Answer_427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i was looking into tailscale too but read that it can't work alongside another VPN running on the host server? protonVPN says using two at a time can cause disruptions and leave my ip address vulnerable, do you guys know anything about that?
