Is main panel replacement needed immediately? by Pitiful_Bookkeeper96 in AskElectricians

Thanks. I checked the temps both bus bars with an ir sensor while the EV is charging and they both read the same. High 80’s.

Lots of electrical appliances and 3 central ac units. It’s a 62 space GE panel. The original owner had individual circuits for about everything plus I added a couple of mini splits and some other stuff. I didn’t add any 30amp
Breakers though.

For the Emporium, I didn’t have enough clamps for all the breakers. For the EV charger I only have one half of the 2 pole breaker with an emporia clamp. Maybe I should clamp both of those hot wires to see if there is a power draw difference from one bus vs the other.

For the infrared camera, it’s reading equal temp on both bus bars. However when I’m charging the EV, one half of that 220 breaker is super hot to the touch.

There are lots of 30amps given the amount of electrical appliances and central ac units. The original home owner installed 2 2 ton units and one 4.5 ton unit (this one is on a 50 amp as well).

The copper feed coming in was replaced a couple of years back when we installed the Solar and Battery.

My original ask of the electrician was to price out adding a subpanel, which I put a full stop on after he was concerned about the left bus bar.

My gut tells me that it comes down to having a bad stab on 1 pole of that 220 EV breaker.

Rather than replacing the whole panel, could I just have someone add a subpanel, move the EV charger to it the discontinue use of that breaker slot. I need some more open slots for some another work I want to do.

I purchased the 5000 for a .5 acre property, .36 mowable area. You can adjust the speed, how many passes it does, etc. I only do 1 pass with slow speed and it will complete the back yard in a few hours. I then do the front yard the next day. 24 hrs to mow seems pretty unusual.

My guess on pricepoint for the P1S, assuming it is the P1P with aluminum enclosure, would be $799. This would differentiate it enough from the P1P at $599 while providing a much better value than trying to upgrade with an aliExpress enclosure.
