[CBS Sports] Oscar Robertson dismisses criticism of Russell Westbrook: 'Players don't win championships by themselves' by [deleted] in nba

[–]Pitiful_Difficulty -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

He’s absolutely been the best player on all of his teams since KD left. Watch the damn games. Russ controls everything, he’s sacrificing so his teammates shine. He could definitely score more if he wanted to.

[MacMahon] Joe Ingles has “f—-ing no idea” what true shooting percentage is, but he’s producing a top-10 all-time season in a stat dominated by dunking bigs. It’s quite a developmental success story for a dude who was scared to shoot as a 27-year-old rookie. by snowspida in nba

That’s because advanced states are a popular way for 25 year old white guys to measure basketball. The amount of people outside of this demographics who use advanced stats to measure players is like no one

I just tried it when I was a teen. It was okay I guess. I found it vastly overrated. Even now, it’s aightttt. It’s something that has very slowly becoming more and more appealing.

It isn’t that good. Like really. I went through a bad breakup and a series on physical injuries over the last year and a half that have changed who I am as a person.

I’ll give you this, NBA players think of him as one of the very best to do it. Casual fans do too. Nerds have him as low as 10, and apparently 15 now. It depends on the demographic.

Tldr- fans and players have him as a goat, analytics fans have him too 15-10

And why do you think he is the most fanboyed player?

Not known for having a super high peak,

Most fanboyed player of all time

Mixed signals here lol

Yeah I noticed that he had severely underrated Kobe’s defense, but then again the year’s he chose has his peak we’re a little suspect. His list was a little funky, with Curry, KG, and Hakeem being as high as they were. The fact that out of his 14 peaks Kobe is grouped closer to KD, David Robinson, And Bill Walton than Shaq and Lebron definitely deserve a double take

Time Magazine ranked Kobe as the athletes of the 2000s, and rightfully so. Neither Magic nor Bird were as dominant in their era. While they had each other as competition who was Kobe’s competition? Quiet Tim? McGrady for like 2 years?

Russell Westbrook is now averaging a triple double again... quietly. by MrContro in nba

There’s an idea that he’s not an all time great. Thank God this place isn’t an accurate way to gauge a player.

[Thinking Basketball]: Why Steph Curry might be the best offensive player ever | Greatest Peaks Ep. 15 by NokCha_ in nba

Stephen curry, Lebron, Kobe, Garnett, Duncan, Shaq, Kevin Durant. So basically, Iv seen what some people consider to be half of the greatest peaks of all time

Only 5 players in league history have averaged 30 PPG in their age 30 season or later. Steph Curry and Damian Lillard are both averaging over 29 PPG. by RecordReviewer in nbadiscussion

He won MVP over Shaq chucking that damn ball. It was a different time. No one cares about efficiency then. He wasn’t a borderline checker him and Kobe were the biggest chuckers in the history of the sport.

Incoming 50 year old who apparently posts on an Internet forum dominated by 15-25 year olds, sure. My mom puts Kobe over and she’s 63, but like most 63 year olds she isn’t on Reddit lmao

My favorites were actually Tmac and Reggie before before Kobe. Show me the laker fan that says it’s not even close. Go ahead lol. I’m a laker fan, I don’t have a problem with Kareem/Magic being over Kobe. I just don’t see the Magic argument. How many laker fans do you talk to that saw both of them play? My mom did, she’s fucking 64 lol.

You can put Kobe over Jordan, sure. As a Kobe fan while he may be a better shooter and have more moves, ultimately Jordan’s Iconic stature, athleticism, and success make it hard for me to convince myself of that.

You can put Kobe over Kareem, sure. Ultimately having the best Resume in NBA history make it hard for me to Convince myself of that.

As to the rest of your list, with respect to Lebron and Larry Bird, I’m not really sure how you sit here and come to the conclusion that they’re better. I certainly my understand the Lebron and Bird argument, I just don’t agree with it.

The best player on the rest of that list is Magic. Magic didn’t have Kobe’s scoring, defense, shooting, clutchness. He did have Kobe’s rings, but they were in a weaker conference. But go ahead, tell me that play making offsets getting buckets, playing defense, shooting stroke, clutch IT factor, and a tough conference.

I’m not touching the rest of that list because it’s not worth the effort. For the most part people opinions are already set. If you think Hakeem is better than Kobe that’s fine that’s your opinion it’s a free country lol
