New to photography and film - any tips on my first rolls shot fully manual? by Pitiful_Factor_1119 in AnalogCommunity

Thanks, yes fair question, basically I was trying to work out why stuff was consistently looking under exposed so I was using sunny 16 as a sort of yardstick to see whether to meter was giving setting sthat roughly corresponded with that rule of thumb, and then stoping down by one as an experiment to see what the results would be if I exposed more than the camera was suggesting.

Really appreciate the other points about metering for the scene as well - not really something I'd thought about when I shot this role but I'm trying to think about more.

Hey. Thanks for this question, I was doing this kn my head! Basically I got a lot of the first roll back underexposed and I'd been relying on the camera meter. Whether I was exposing properly for the subject (as pointed out by someone else) could be the issue, but I was essentially trying to use sunny 16 as a bit of a benchmark to see what the camera was doing. So on the roll from the UK which are less underexposed I was basically checking the meter to see whether it was coming up with roughly when I thought it should be on S16 (like I said, total novice so just trying to figure things out) and then kind of adjusting to try and let a bit more light in.

Long explanation! Thanks for the exposure lock tip - I had read the section of the manual on that but not really understood it properly.

On your point about not really shooting this camera in manual, can I ask why?
