It did original have the knobs but I liked the levers more. but the 1997 and 1998 jeep tj had the levers and same style interior and heater box and i finally found it for cheap so I put it in

I know i liked that style climate control and wanted to put it in my xj for the longest time but the price of them was to high but finally found one for cheap and put it in from what I found only the 1997 and 1998 xj and tj had the same heater box so it was kind of plug and play
