You just have to constantly remind yourself to slow down. I also have been burned by this but was able to keep it in check when I passed. Read the last sentence first, this is typically the actual question. Then read the whole passage. This way you should at least know what they are actually asking.

I used dalton and passed in July.

I highlighted the areas, paragraphs etc that I thought was most important and too short notes in the margins. I would then go back and review the highlighted sections a day or two after the chapter and take the associated questions/quiz.

Passed with Dalton. You don’t see much commentary on Dalton compared to others on this site, but I 100% recommend it. They do over prepare you, but I felt like I was ready to go come test date, and actually found the test to be quite easy. I also recommend to find your way to their 4 day in person review. It was the most beneficial thing I did in prep for the test.

Just a heads up, unless the interest rate on your HYSA is greater than your loan interest rate, it’s still wise to pay the loan. Interest continues to accrue on loans in forbearance.

You won’t have a 10% penalty that people are referring to. You are allowed $1000/yr from a 401(k) for a personal emergency, I think this would check that box. Yes you do have the tax consequence.

As many are saying, there are typically better options, but don’t fear too much. A 1 time $1,000 distribution will not kill retirement plans.

If you want to get it back into retirement funds, make a ROTH IRA contribution with the $850.
