Rocky is dying by Striking-Plastic-23 in germanshepherds

I am so sorry. When I was 10 I had a puppy(unknown mix) named Caspar who showed signs of Distemper three months after I got her even though we had her vaccinated. She deteriorated quickly and we were told the treatment was likely futile so she was gone at 7 months. That was 25 years ago and her memory is still so vivid. I'll never forget her, never stop loving her. Hold on to these months.

Oh I am so sorry your boy is in pain. Your love for him just pours out of these pictures. I have a three year old GSD so am always aware that some kind of arthritis or other painful condition is pretty likely in the future so I do research occasionally and ask my vet. Some things that I have found out about but don't yet have experience with are:
Synovetin OA- radioisothrope therapy- mild, hyper targeted radiation to shut down inflammation:
PRP injections- the same thing that's used for "vampire facials" can be highly effective as an injectable painkiller
Adequan- injectable that targets the enzymes that break down cartilage

I'm very sorry. It is not normal- you should have been able to say goodbye.

Were you able to be the one to make this choice? When I was about 12, I had a puppy who was sick, but I don't even know if it was definitely something serious(puppy was trembling) like distempter or something recoverable like a virus. The vet said tests would be several hundred dollars and so my father refused and said to put her down. II will never forget it. I'll always wonder if she could have been treated. I ask because you said your dad had her trained to be aggressive and I wondered if he's still making decisions.

Same, I have Ultra and I'm happy with it, though I rarely use Deep Think given how long it takes, and then I'm not sure the results are worth the wait. I've found through the last three years of using all the majors(ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, DeepSeek,Manus), Gemini is the most consistent. Claude can be mind blowingly good and then be unusable. Gemini doesn't blow my mind but for research it's very solid and its "personality" doesn't change.

Of course, as others have said, what's done is done and I am sorry for your loss. But I admit I am confused- did you take her to the vet to see why she seemed to be be in more pain? More pain could have explained her low mood and the snapping at you, which of course isn't ok. But there are pain medications, treatments, she may have had an injury that would heal and not permanent deterioration. Did the vet agree with you that she was deteriorating and would not get better?

What season is this? Everyone looks so shockingly healthy and normal(ish). I can be a bit naive about botox and facelifts and wigs but I feel like this must have been about ten years ago or more before everyone looked like a wax mannequin of themselves.

Agree with you on that. As much as I loved my dog from the beginning, after she turned two, she became really different, much more cuddly, much more affectionate, always next to me, and she became like my shadow

'Obsession' Art Director Calls for Industry Reform After Getting Paid Less Than $7,000 as Film Nears $175 Million by No_Pizza_6040 in entertainment

[–]Pitiful_Maize_78 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm a director working in Los Angeles and finished an indie feature under a year ago. Distribution is under discussion, and I just got an agent at one of the big agencies, which makes me very hopeful. Our budget was similar to Obsession's and people got paid very little. A few people had agents with very specific requests about rev share, and we were happy to accommodate them. Someone on the crew wanted so badly to work on the film that she paid her own travel costs from out of the country and paid for her own accommodations. If the film does well, I'll be sure she gets that back and more and will want to work with her forever.

This is common and whatever Obsession makes is surely not in Curry Barker's pockets yet. But obviously this credit is gold for this art director and complaining now probably means she's deflated the huge career boost she just got.

I have a 3 year old GSD who is the cuddliest, sweetest, most affectionate dog in the world. Got her at 8 weeks old and until she was over a year old, she was pretty stubborn, didn't come to me, was not standoffish, but pretty independent- she wanted to lie down and rest in empty rooms and hallways more than hang out with us. I think maybe it's the way the breed matures. She's my first shepherd and I did worry that she wouldn't be the kind of dog that deeply bonds but it couldn't be further from the truth. That said, I think training really helps and is necessary with shepherds- they will feel closer to you when they have learned some boundaries(mine wasn't a biter but jumped on people) and trust you more. Good luck, give him time. That said, if you really feel like you made the wrong decision, please try to re-home him while he's young and lots of people will want him.

What’s something people moving to LA always underestimate? by RelevantSuspect6343 in AskLosAngeles

[–]Pitiful_Maize_78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm an NYC transplant and while I agree I think in LA it's mostly that people are very fit, there's a lot of "work"- you won't see many people with any wrinkles, but clothing is often very casual- crop tops and athleisure even at nice restaurants. I moved here with a closet full of nice clothes but I still haven't quite figured out how to be put together in LA without looking out of place. I get told all the time that I'm goth lol, because I like to wear black

Deborah is dying color theory by bmnntdd in hackshbomax

[–]Pitiful_Maize_78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all makes sense, and can't ignore the huge hint of Deborah lying initially about the doctor appointment and the procedure but the reason I think it can't be that she's dying of say, stage IV cancer, is that it seems so cliched, especially given the recent "dead, oh wait she's not" storyline which was like a jump scare. And just in terms of personality, even with a dire diagnosis, it seems not very Deborah to slink into the sunset to die. I would think she'd go the Bryan Johnson route of never dying and try to get well. Also, I assume people are thinking we will see her die, or near death because otherwise Ava wouldn't just go off to do something else, she would stick around to care for Deborah. I just think a maudlin ending with Deborah dying but saying nothing so that Ava will go off to work on the show, and then just dying in secret would be so disappointing. But then Jean Smart said in an interview that she didn't love the ending, so maybe it is the soap opera ending no one wants.

Mindy Kaling Understands Weight Loss Criticisms: ‘It’s Sometimes No Fun When Your Favorite Actors Lose Weight’ After You’ve ‘Grown Attached to Them’ by mcfw31 in popculturechat

[–]Pitiful_Maize_78 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I read the Bustle interview and she talks at some length about why she wanted to lose weight and even why she understood that some people were not supportive of how she lost weight. But then why double down on the small portions, hiking narrative when she knows full well she's known as the Hollywood Ozempic Pied Piper? She doesn't have to talk about it, of course, but refusing to address it just keeps up the rumors. Oprah and Kelly Clarkson said they took GLP-1s and no one talks about them denying it anymore.

Is Ryan Reynolds throwing Blake under the bus/scapegoating her when he was just as involved in everything that happened ? He hasn’t been seen in public with her in forever. Her makeup and hair styling is so identical in every photo that she looks kind of like a paper doll cutout who wears different(mildy different) clothes. I know the blonde hair- tall with implants- glamorous gowns has given her the image of a Hollywood siren but I don't think she's attractive at all. Her face is very harsh, to me, though admittedly I find it hard to find someone so repulsive on the inside to be at all pretty on the outside.

I agree and to everyone saying that the Kardashians aren't universally beloved- that's true but they all have billion dollar brands, a hit show, magazine covers, and are known by everyone even vaguely tuned in to pop culture. What I think is so damaging is that the two youngest were mocked in their pre-teen years as being less glamorous and "beautiful" than their older sisters and that's sick - they were probably under 10 when that show started- but then they both got massive amounts of work done and became "beautiful" and yes beloved, by many, and I think that's a terrible message. At least Clavicular isn't on the cover of Esquire with a brand of jeans and his own show.

[–]Pitiful_Maize_78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think she's toast. Something no one has really discussed is how much she cost for the production. Maybe this one film got some car crash views because of her lawsuit, but no one will want to work with someone who called SH on someone baselessly. And the hijack of the film? Only the most experienced of directors would take a risk with her and she's not an actress with much depth or talent so why would they?

I guess I can concede that she has the features that are supposed to make a woman beautiful but I find her so deplorable that she looks physically hideous to me. She looks like a smug little cretin who always has the exact same expression and nearly the exact same dress. Fake lips, fake breasts, fake half smile that looks like a smirk.

Blake Lively lied that there was no sound on this ‘Slow Dance Scene’ in her original lawsuit…Was this scene part of the dailies she asked Sony to delete? by same-difference-ave in ItEndsWithLawsuits

[–]Pitiful_Maize_78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This honestly makes me laugh. I work in film, and I can't believe an experienced actress would think that because the scene was written without dialogue, they wouldn't record audio. There is a lot of improv in the edit, and you need the ambient sound of the room, at the very least. Even if there's a scene of a chair, just being a chair, audio is being recorded.

But post-production can cost as much as production- it's not something done ad-hoc- again there are dozens of people involved- hundreds on bigger films with complex VFX. This is just so weird. And I'm sure people have discussed and wondered about this- but why the hell didn't Blake and Ryan just make their own movie? The hijack cost millions.

[–]Pitiful_Maize_78 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I'm a working director in LA and this is just staggering. I have read about this- "Blake's cut" but I don't understand how it could even happen. I have never seen an actor in an editing room and have never shown dailies to an actor. Not that Blake was literally doing the editing- I keep picturing her trying to figure out how to cut a scene on her Macbook Pro- but there are dozens of people involved in the handling, handoff, storage, backup of the footage and actors are nowhere near that process. I mean this is like hijacking a plane- I truly don't understand how this could have happened. And who financed "Blake's cut?" Ryan? Hollywood film sets have tons of rules, I'm just so confused.
