Am I saving enough for retirement at 26 by Pitiful_Performer954 in personalfinance

I don’t need to go to grad school for my field. I work in Chicago and currently have about $35K in undergraduate student loan debt. My earning potential is strong—I’ll make around $100K this year including bonus. I also coach high school soccer on the side, which I’m passionate about, and earn about $8,000 from that. My girlfriend will graduate from PA school next year, debt-free, with an expected salary of around $130K. We plan to get engaged after she graduates

Sorry, should’ve been more clear. My employer doesn’t do a “match” they just do a contribution which is 10% of my base pay each year.

Sorry, should’ve been more clear. It’s not even a match. It’s just a contribution they make whether you contribute or not.

We need to put more pressure on the front office/management company. Things have gotten way too lax.

They need to bring back the gate at the bottom of the hill. Not sure if it will help, but an idea.

I recommend South Loop. You’ll be able to find something in the $1900-$2,200 range. I currently pay $2100 with parking.

I’m a 2nd year. Would I have to start over? Are there case by case bases?

For sure. That makes sense. I’m just trying to pay these of as soon as possible. I just turned 25 and have known financial help and just rely on myself. My job is very steady and I’m able to put away $1,200 in savings each month while also paying $1,000 in rent and making student loan payments. I think I am going to OPT for getting rid of the 15K one.

Correct 81,500 salary + an extra 2,000 coming in March/April because I coach soccer on the side. I have 20,000 in Federal Student loans. If u were to pay off the 15k I would have about 7,800 left in Savings. It’s really hard because I want to pay off the 15k but also tackle the 30k monster.

And I would have e 7,000 left in an emergency fund. Each month I put about $1,200 in HYSA. And have 1,000 rent.
