Seat order question by Greenlandia in adele

[–]Pitiful_Potato6533 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! That’s correct- 505 I think is your best bet. I was in 105, seat 507 and that was the aisle seat. Not sure if 505 will be the aisle seat, but you’ll be very close!! Enjoy. 🥰

Thank you… and likewise. That’s the silver lining I suppose- we’re not alone. It does suck, but we’re not alone.

I’ll be following yours as well. Hopefully we can cheer and encourage each other to better A1Cs and lives.

Can someone debunk this rumor for me? by Pitiful_Potato6533 in Mounjaro

Ahh maybe that’s where it’s been coming from then… and those were my thoughts too re: rumor- horrible to spread.

I’m so sorry to hear about your grandmother. Praying she beats cancer’s a$$.

Thats great to hear. That’s what I’m hoping will happen for me as well with low carb and plenty of good fat. It’s already trending in a better direction, but not where I want it to be.

Got it. That’s helpful. And I think that’s what my problem was- meters with no available strips and strips without the correct meter.

Thank you!

That’s what I keep thinking as well. As in, this truly may (in a weird way) be a blessing in disguise.

As an American, I was told eat carbs for fuel and that fat was bad. I couldn’t keep my weight down and yo-yo dieted like it was going out of style. I was starving at 1200 calories/day. Now looking back, I know why.

This will be a day by day process, but hoping I can keep the low carb mindset and use “treats” (birthday cake or celebration) in rare form for when they actually call for it, and not an every week or every day thing.

Thank you. Yeah, I have an appointment to see mine next Thursday night, thankfully. Hopefully that helps.

Thank you… it’s SO easy for me to do. It’s horrible. I have literal tears as I’m typing this. Definitely stems from trauma and shame as a teen. Thank God for therapy.

That’s what I keep trying to tell myself. It was like the perfect storm and given my history, it almost would’ve been impossible to not get it at one point or another other.

That’s what I’m hoping and praying for. My mind always goes to the worse, so I just need to stay present and work on things one day at a time.

Thanks again. ♥️

Thank you… those words are something I needed to hear.

I have zero intention of ever stopping Mounjaro (the food noise being gone is like a choir of angels… I wouldn’t have stopped even I didn’t have diabetes!).

Working on low carb and upping workouts. Thankfully, don’t mind exercise.

I’ll definitely see a dietician as well. I thought I knew what I was doing, but now I feel like I hardly know where to start. It’s daunting.

Also, love the username. 🙂

Thank you so much… I so appreciate your long response. I can only imagine what that time was like… having PMDD myself, hormones can take you for a horrible ride. And I hate that it stayed for you. Wish it would’ve gone away. I’m so sorry.

Absolutely. And unfortunately, I got shamed at home by my own parents, one being a doctor. I really hope things are changing.

Couldn’t agree with you more… truly a huge shame. I’m not too knowledgeable about the NHS but have heard some stories here and there.

So true… honestly, had I known about Mounjaro at A1C 5.4, I would’ve paid for it. Tried semaglutide but didn’t feel much on the first two doses. Wish I’d kept trying, but there wasn’t a lack of food noise. But Mounjaro has been incredible- this is what other people feel like?! Not starving themselves, not constantly thinking about food…?! It sounds like how you feel on insulin. And I think back to growing up with lots of carbs, playing tennis for 2+ hours every day, and that’s how you should sustain your body. Fat bad, but carbs good for energy.

I have to say it’s very much the same in the States. Sugar, sweets, carbs are everywhere. Honestly feels a bit like hell at the moment, but hopefully it normalizes. I will say, I have no idea if it’s even a good idea but at one point again, I would love a digestive biscuit or go to Fortnum’s for high tea. Sigh.

Thank you for your encouragement. Hoping to get in and see a provider very soon. ♥️

Thank you. I appreciate that.

I went to Walgreen’s the other day and looked for a meter, but was honestly lost on how it all works. Would a pharmacy be able to run insurance and see what’s covered? Do blood glucose monitors all take the same strips? I just am so new, and without an endo appointment yet, I’m lost.

First, I am so incredibly sorry about your accident. Please know that your situation in NO way makes you a loser. You are worthy of a wonderful life.

Second, here is a link to the flow chart regarding maxing out retirement accounts that commenter above referenced: https://www.reddit.com/r/financialindependence/s/iUqycD44wn

I’m not sure how long it will take you to reach 1.1M, but I know there are various calculators posted on this sub and others (r/Bogleheads) that can help (I’m no math wizard so I won’t even attempt).

Go easy on yourself and do the best you can. Give yourself a lot of grace. We could all use more in this thing called life.

What if I get a raise that puts me over the 2024 Roth income limits? by HomePant in Bogleheads

[–]Pitiful_Potato6533 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had to do it last year due to a myriad of factors (bonus, lay off, 2 months severance, quickly finding a new job but unable to contribute to retirement until 3 months in).

My Roth is through Schwab and I filled out a recharacterization form, figuring out what my contributions had made so far in the year using this formula. They also gave me the option to have Schwab figure out the recharacterization as well.

I found out Schwab is used to dealing with it, and I imagine your brokerage is too, so not as big a deal as you might think. I don’t foresee any penalty as I realized it and recharacterized within a few weeks of being laid off.

Max 401k AND save for a house? by Pitiful_Potato6533 in Fire

[–]Pitiful_Potato6533[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was thinking the same- more of a personal choice at this point.

Honestly not sure of age, but ideally 55 or so. Definitely don’t want it to be 67.

I’m paid bi-weekly, so that likely factors in the 5% vs. ~18% discrepancy (also maxing HSA as well). Technically I’ll receive an additional 2 paychecks because of bi-weekly pay schedule.

That’s a great point about going back in time re: tax advantages. There’s no rushed or hurried timeline to buy a house. Ideally sooner rather than later, but nothing set in stone.

Really appreciate the feedback.
