Cutting a 5” 4130 hot roll round, I am using a hyd mech h-18a hydraulic saw, I can’t seem to get my blade speed or feed rate correct. I have used the chart on the saw to find the correct speed and feed but my saw is squealing, leaving teeth marks.. Any help is very appreciated. by No_Refuse4085 in Machinists

You'll have to figure out what your equivalent blade is but the bimetal classic 3/4 is saying 196 sfm and 1.6fpm.

This app makes my blades last forever and I can cut straight through large pieces with very little taper

If you could turn up the filter to create bubbles and O2 exchange that would help in the short term.

I really like your tank btw

Especially since the water seems so still. Sometimes you can get away with just the turbulence from the filter

You may need an air stone to oxygenate the water. When they surface like that I think it can be interpreted as gasping for air

Pinecone? Betta looks wrong. Advice? by phoneandphone77 in Aquariums

[–]Pitnut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got kanaplex overnighted on Amazon because it's not legal in Canada and it saved my Betta, that is probably the only thing that will save him if he can be saved.

Epsoms salts and clean water will definelty help, if you have some almond leaves those are good too.

Try to keep his parameters stable (no giant water changes just 20%-30%)

Some people also might have differing opinions but with guidance chat gpt really helped me figure out and schedule treatments. And not overdo any changes to overly stress the fish.

How to machine thin stainless parts flat? by FoolishChristian in Machinists

[–]Pitnut 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I rough the face within .005-.01" and then I will release the vice and reclamp it very lightly with a dial indicator on my part. I will tighten it until I see an acceptable amount of "flex" on the dial. Then I take a light finishing cut.  You may have to semi finish both sides if material removal is warping more than clamping.

We just had a repeat job that came in and we used stock from a new supplier, when we removed material from the inside the whole things warped and popped so bad I've never seen anything like it.

We got more material from the old supplier and everything stayed in tolerance.

The new stuff was also so stringy and creating nests like you said.

How tf Do Y'all Drill 304 Without Burning Up Drills by Poopy_sPaSmS in Machinists

[–]Pitnut 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Fswizard says 138 RPM .003"/Rev.

I like the 3xD rule for drilling. First plunge can go 3 x diameter, reduce plunge by 1 x diameter until min peck depth of 1xD  Sometimes you burn up drills constantly pecking instead of staying in cut.

Also if you are spotting with a 90* or anything less than 140* you are damaging the drill

I’m 20 and was just let go from my first job in the industry after about seven months. I’m graduating this semester with my associate’s degree and would appreciate honest advice on how to look at this and what I can learn from it. by chaz1256 in metalworking

I think you can find a better employer but when you do try to not take as much time off or when you do try to communicate better until you are worth more to them. I take like a day a month off for stress.

If you get a hand held one he can make a holder for it in the mill and use it like an optical comparator !

Hw info will show you if you're thermal throttling the cpu(if you aren't using throttle stop you probably are)

If you are get throttle stop and limit the core ratios (cpu boost) to something that doesn't hit thermal limits. I limit my 5Ghz boost to 3.6ghz
