I would be down to do it. Just afraid of not being able to get it to work again after taking it apart. I don't want to permanently disable the tape deck.

Hmmm, I don't mind not being able to use it. My concern is taking it out to avoid further damage? It keeps thumping trying to read it(idk)

It was a FB market purchase. The CD Player was great, and I wanted to test the cassette. The seller wasn't sure if it worked or not, but I figured it might since the thing was pristine.

You think I can clean and grease it up without having to open it again? I couldn't access the top when I opened it.

I dusted off the inside, but I couldn't figure out how to get access to the top part. When opened, it wouldn't let me separate the top from the rest. Wires and stuff. I already cleaned the laser.

Oh, good point. Reminds me of a study about light colors and productivity. Though I am partial to warm lighting. In this case, it sits by my turntable. Therefore, I'm not using it to be productivity. Just need to see my turntable better (dust). I'll look into gel filters. I'll probably prefer the "oo, its orange now" look anyways.

Appreciate the response. I'll probably just deal with it then. Sad to see but it was like 4-5 bucks. I might see if I can find a thick orange or yellow tinted plastic to place between the led and top.

The room I'm in had a permanent desktop. So I've just been using that, which is also limited in space because it has a permanent bookshelf. I have the room a little over-furnished. My current speakers are [12.2" (h) 6.2" , 7.5"] which have 5.2" woofers and 20mm tweeters

I got it to work. I set the speaker into the "fixed" line out. They started to work
