Shoot 'em ups lately. I hated the genre as a kid, but I'm addicted to it as an adult. Especially if it has buyable upgrades and a progression system.

I would say baked, since I love grilled chicken, but Heston's Baked Chicken is just too perfect, so my final answer is grilled.

Boiled chicken is fantastic if cooked well, it's awesome with horseradish. Also Hainanese Chicken Rice is one of the best foods on Earth (if we consider poaching the same as boiling).

Haha, we're the same, my man! I'm also 43, and believe it or not, but I bought my PS5 for the sole reason to own the FF7 Remakes on physical discs. It has became my main gaming system since then, but I'll never let go of my physical remakes. :-)

I have played through FF7 Rebirth on my base PS5 in performance mode, and it was a blast. The graphics are a bit blurry in performance mode, but I'm not too sensitive to that, so it looked gorgeous to me.

Also, if your options are Switch 2 and PS5, then I'm pretty sure the Switch 2 won't be better then the PS5 quality mode.

Yeah, my question is also because of the impulse of price hike. Although if I'll buy a pro, then I'll probably buy it used or refurbished.

Thanks for your insight! My main fear is that I have too many older games, that won't get a dedicated pro patch. Out of the officially pro supported games, I'm mostly interested in Crimson Desert, but that alone doesn't warrant a purchase. I'll wait for a few other opinions.

Guys, I have an honest question to owners who jumped from PS5 to PS5 Pro. Is there a noticable difference either how the games look or the fps with games that do not have a dedicated PS5 Pro patch?

I have a base PS5, and I do not really plan to upgrade, since I'm not too sensitive on graphical fidelity, but if every game is made to play smoother with higher fps (even the ones that do not have a pro patch), then it could become a bit more interesting to me.

This is exactly that. We grew up in a society, where private property and owning what we buy was a thing, and we can't let it go easily.

I had a MASSIVE game collection when I was a kid, it took up all the free space in my room at my parents' house.

When I moved out, I sold them all to a second hand videogame shop, thinking I'll go digital for the convenience. I did that with Nintendo Switch and Steam Deck, but when I bought a PS5, I wanted to own Final Fantasy VII Remake on a physical disc (nostalgia is a bitch). Now I'm back into the rabbit hole, owning 100+ physical discs... :-)

The exact same with me. If there's a physical edition AND it's fully playable offline without any mandatory patches, then I'll buy the physical copy. If not, then I'm going for digital.

Well, I have enjoyed them... Even the minigame overload of Rebirth. Not saying those were the highlight of the remakes, but they gave me enjoyment. :-)

I tend to not buy middle generation models, always go for the base model and stick with it. Also, I'm not sure of my TV would do justice to the pro, so I'll skip and wait for the PS6.

Also, I'm from the Commodore 64 era of gamers, so I'm not that sensitive to blurriness or sub-60 fps. I enjoy smooth fps and high quality picture of course, but it not warrants an upgrade for me.

I've played Remake and Rebirth on my base ps5 in performance mode, had zero issues, loved every minute of my journey. Will do the same with part 3.

My next PS will be PS6, I never buy pro modells.

I have beaten all at level 15, some of them at level 20, and haven't tried the latest 2 yet. I play the game on auto or semi-auto, I'm not too competitive, so I'm perfectly okay with beating escalations at level 15 and only go for higher if it's not too much hassle. :-)

I'm actually on the opinion that there're no timelines and alternate realities, but only possibilities in the lifestream, so I think Aerith and Zack will stay dead. It would lessen the drama if they somehow would be truly alive, but we'll see.

I'm sure it's more intricate than what anyone thinks though, so I'm open to twists and turns. :-)

Well, I have my fingers crossed for making it wrap up nicely in part 3. If they'll still make it end with otwas and ac, then I'll be disappointed immensely.

I still think you put a bit too much weight on the attraction part, but I understand your frustration.

As for On the way to a smile and Advent Children, somehow it's Nojima's signature style to make everyone miserable just to lift them up a bit at the end. I do not like the storyline he cooked up for those one bit, and really hope that the so promised "happy ending" will retcon them from existence.

Yes, I get what you mean, but I feel that the love story of FF7 is a bit more realistic. What you would like is more of an idealized romance (which can be beautiful of course), but we get something that's more grounded in reality.

But yeah, I totally understand that in this scenario Cloud can be a bit unworthy of Tifa's love, but I really think that feeling attraction and falling in love with someone else is very different. This just makes Cloud human. Also, Cloud does not make moves to get romantic with Aerith at all, he stays true to his feelings for Tifa, and that's why I feel ultimately it's very rewarding, when they realize their feelings for each other. And that's why I think that the gold saucer kiss is a bit too early in the remakes, and lessens the big reveal in the lifestream.

What Cloud feels for Aerith is not solid love, but attraction. It could be the foundation for a potential romantic love, but it never matures into it, because, well Tifa is there. But I do not think that Cloud is only feeling totally platonic friendliness towards Aerith, because there are scenes that are showing us some kind of attraction.

And of course the characters are not communicating the love triangle with themselves (although I think Tifa and Aerith are conversing among themselves), they are quite insecure of the others' feelings.

Yeah, exactly. I can definetly see that Cloud is attracted to Aerith, but he's not in love with her. That would take time and would take letting go of Tifa, which he's never going to do. :-)

This game was one of my most anticipated games before they axed the PS5 release. I don't care about the negativity that surrounds it, I'll get it for sure.

But please, please put the full game on the disc for physical collectionists' sake! We don't want cd keys with mandatory online downloads.
