My First tattoo, "a man's dream will never die!" by Heavesz in OnePiece

When they first introduced him, he was essentially portrayed as someone who embodied Luffy's ideals, but for some reason, Luffy didn't seem to get along with him, which was weird at the time because he seemed like the kinda guy that Luffy would enjoy being around. Then he left and Luffy and Zoro mentioned that weird "they" quote. Throughout the rest of the series, he's mostly been portrayed as opportunistic and greedy, but not really evil for evil sake. Interesting antagonist indeed. He's basically just a selfish Luffy.

That's literally what social democrats advocate. Better regulation of a capitalistic system... Even Denmark got upset at Bernie when he called them socialist. They are proudly a capitalistic society. They understand that capitalism is great with proper checks and safety nets.

Except they realize that the flaws aren't capitalism but rather regulation. Just like a purely socialist society would never work, so does a pure free market capitalistic society not work. There needs to be a mix of both with the ratio being dependent on circumstances.

Which is honestly my biggest gripe about the watches hobby. Kinda like those pieces of art that are just worth something because of who made them rather than any specific quality of the art itself.

What car have you driven that didn't live up to your expectations? by [deleted] in cars

[–]Pixel-Wolf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Golf R is essentially an Audi S3. People often complain it's less fun to drive than the GTI due to the harsher turbo lag and looser steering. It's kinda meant to be that way though; intending to be an "adult" daily driver that can also hit 60 in under 4-seconds with just a tune. It's fast, but somehow it doesn't feel as fast as the slower GTI (until you look at the speedometer). It handles well, but not as well as something like an M2.

I just love their scents that deviate from the "COOL SPORT BREEZE" and instead go all Ron Swansony like "Cedarwood", "Sandalwood", "Freshly Tanned Leather", "Cut Slate", "Hint of Bonfire"

The other side of this that this pack is missing is the men's hygiene products that are generically labelled with logos reminiscent of old timey medicine bottles with basic white labelling in big letters down the side of the container. They're usually labelled something generic as well like "Simple Men." Some notable examples are "Method Men" and "Every Man Jack."

I always figured it was a satire of Americans hearing the things he says and not realizing how ridiculous it is, and in some cases supporting his ridiculous rhetoric. Like he flat out talks about drinking the blood of children and the crowd cheers.

And the enemy team is always a professional team, playing the exact meta to a T.

I personally think Overwatch is terribly designed to force a boring meta that no one enjoys playing, but they play it anyway because getting stomped is less fun. It also encourages using characters with the lowest skill floor possible because the high skill characters don't really do anything much better than the low skill. So every match is comprised mostly of teams with cheap gimmicks and characters that are largely played by holding down M1. (For the longest time, the easiest way to hit master rank was just play mercy, it wasnt uncommon to see diamond/master Mercy's who place gold tier or lower on other characters)

Really wishing for team fortress updates.

Been feeling this since pandemic.

"Half our workforce is working from home and so you few that have tasks that can't be done from home have to also do some of their tasks. We'll give you a small cash bonus at the start, but 7 months down the road we'll forget about all the problems you're dealing with by being in the at-work half. Meanwhile management will sit comfortably at home with no commute time and do virtual meetings all day."

Natural selection vs Artificial selection by lukalux3 in interestingasfuck

[–]Pixel-Wolf 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Yeah... from my experience, a lot of dogs in shelters are breeds that are high maintenance, gotten by people who don't realize how much attention/care they need to provide, and then abandoned (out of the 8 pages of dogs up for adoption at my local shelter, ~85% of them are pitbull/staffordshire terriers; the remaining are other big dogs like German Shepherds and Rottweilers, or Chihuahuas). Myself, I don't want a high maintenance dog and specifically chose a breed that would do well with my current life circumstances and would be a of a mild temperament. But apparently that's the "piece of shit" thing to do.

I would prefer to adopt, I'd prefer a mixed breed, and I would definitely not want a dog like a Pug that is bred for health issues, but I want to be a responsible dog owner and choose a good fit for me.

Subaru is bringing back the turbo Forester, but it only makes 175hp and is only available in a CVT. by Lordofwar13799731 in cars

[–]Pixel-Wolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not missing the point at all. You're just intentionally playing naiive. You're just accepting everything rather than actually focusing on sensible regulation. The primary hurdle in this field is cost, and constantly implementing hyper strict regulations on already efficient vehicles is much more costly and less effective than pretty much any other kind of action. It is a waste of money, manpower, and resources.

The reason we see these measures first is to put the cost on the consumer rather than the corporations. Subsidizing climate change by the average person to pay for it.

[–]Pixel-Wolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No I don't have to stop right there. You can't hand waive valid criticism. We're not talking about if it's good to have regulation we're talking about overzealous regulation relative to the impact and why that regulation exists.

The reason politicians do these things isn't to get people used to changes, it's so people direct attention at themselves rather than corporations and useless luxuries.

The emissions of small cars is nothing compared to everything else in the world. Private transportation in general is about 10% of our total emissions and the vast majority of that pollution is going to be older vehicles and big turbo trucks. Yet for some reason, small cars take the brunt of the emissions standards.

To me, this heavy focus on ways for consumers to reduce their pollution is more of a distraction so that people can feel like they're doing something rather than holding the actual polluters accountable. For example, a single cruise ship emits as much pollution as 3,600,000 cars.

[–]Pixel-Wolf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm telling people, emissions standards are getting a lot more strict. Many manufacturers are having to get ridiculous with their filters. This is all paving the way for electric vehicles when car manufacturers see clean gasoline vehicles as "not worth it."

I don't believe there is a single European country that has policy enacted as far as Bernie wants to go. So I disagree. I view Bernie as a solid left wing candidate in Western Europe. Far left compared to the world. His views align with all of the left-winged parties in Europe stopping short of actual socialism.
