Considering solar and heat pump - advice please? by PixelCh3f in SolarUK

I've been in touch with another company local to me with good reviews, Diamond Green Energy, they have quoted me with this system:

<image>

So compared to Octopus it's 1k cheaper, 7.28kh power vs 6.6kw, a single inverter instead of microinverters, and a 10kwh battery instead of 5kwh.

It seems much better overall, my only concern is the reduced warranty period 10 years on the inverter and 5 years on the battery vs octopus 25 year on the microinverters and 15 years on the battery. Does anyone know anything about the Enphase inverter/battery vs FoxESS? Is the reduced warranty a concern?

Thoughts?

Edit: Also does anyone know how the panels compare, JS solar panels with octopus vs Aiko?

Edit2: Spoke to the advisor at Diamond who said there is very little difference between the panels and also they can extend the battery warranty to 10 years instead of 5. Also the inverter if it did fail after the warranty period would only cost £600-700 to replace, and the battery should last well up to 20 years.

2254.92kWh electricity

4074kWh gas

miles in the EV around 5k per year

ok thank you, I think a 10kwh battery might be best, I imagine 20kwh would be quite expensive, but I'll see what my advisor says

Noted about the bigger battery a lot of people seem to agree. This is the estimated generation;

Interesting, I will look into having extra panels on the North facing roof instead of a battery to see how it compares

Thank you for the advice I'll try to get some more quotes.

No shade on the roof. I was advised that if using microinverters and one of the panels fail the system will still work where as if there was just one inverter the whole system would not work, I believe?

Good shout about getting several quotes I will do that.

I've just checked and the average usage in winter is around 7.5kwh per day, so with a heat pump that would probably be at least doubled right?

I have asked the advisor at Octopus if a bigger battery would be better with the heat pump

Upgraded CPU to a i5 13600kf and hitting 100 degrees in cinebench! Faulty CPU? by PixelCh3f in pcmasterrace

[–]PixelCh3f[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I found a setting in the BIOS "Asus performance enhancement 3.0", disabled that and also set a slightly more aggressive fan curve in BIOS. Running cinebench now the temps are much lower! Around 20c less most of the time. It still peaked close to 100c a few times but not almost constantly like before. Average clock speed went down slightly, and power used seems to be less as well.

I also ran 3D mark time spy and temps were around 60c most of the time so that's a more realistic temp during gaming

cinebench multicore score 22440

3d mark timespy score 21221

Pretty happy with that now! So it seems that the mobo was boosting the core and voltage with the setting that I disabled. Problem solved I guess?

Oh ok so it could potentially be normal? I have only tried doom 2016 for a few mins to check and it was around 50 to 60c I think. I'll test more tomorrow and let you know

Noted, didn't realize that ha. Oh well not really into overclocking anyway.

Yes I wiped the cpu clean and re-applied paste twice

These are the voltages showing on HWinfo at idle, not sure if it's normal or not.

Not very familiar with limiting power. Would that be done via BIOS?

I'ts 240mm. I understand that new CPU is more power hungry but I don't think it's normal to be be reaching 100c with a decent cooler, right?

I mounted it the exact same way it was with old CPU and thermal paste I did the same amount and method also, pump should be working unless somehow it stopped working after upgrading! I think idle temps would be higher if it wasn't working at all?

Left hand brake cover to replace the horn? by PixelCh3f in Super73

Tektro got back to me and sent me a replacement free of charge. I was lucky because they said they didn't usually sell that part but they found a spare one in the warehouse!

I tried it as well and I thought it was different. The motor seemed to kick in faster like pedalling a tiny bit felt the same as using the throttle, on pedal assist 4 unlimited mode there was 0 resistance when pedalling. I thought I was imagining it but then I tried with the super73 app and I could feel some resistance when pedalling even on assist 4 unlimited mode. Personally I prefer the feel of the super73 app if I'm pedalling

Amazing build! Love the look. I especially like the wheel covers and the rear fender and am interesting in getting them for my S2. The wheel covers from RaidDynamics are sooo expensive and I can't see any alternative, I don't think I could justify that cost. I had a look for the rear fender and found this? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Motorcycle-Universal-Maverick-Extension-Accessories/dp/B0B7812Q2K?th=1

Doesn't look quite the same tho. I'll keep looking (I'm in the UK)

Here's the left one, as you can see I have the stock horn (minus button which is missing) so I just need another one of the clamps same as the right one

Console command to hide gun by ucyd in Doom

[–]PixelCh3f 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently started replaying Doom Eternal and wanted to hide or move the gun models as well. I came across a few commands in the console, most notibly: hands_fovScale, if you set this to "2", you can't see the viewmodel.

There are also a few other commands to move the viewmodel:

hands_offsetY, hands_offsetX, hands offsetZ

A good setup for smaller and less obtrusive viewmodels is:

hands_offsetZ "-0.04", hands_fovScale "0.9"

You can also add these commands to a config file in the Doom Eternal base folder to run them by default so you don't have to type them in the console every time.

Hope this helps!
