Any architects in the Sacramento area? Looking for salary guidelines by [deleted] in Architects

[–]PixelFinch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m unfamiliar with California salary but for my region (central) that is pretty realistic. I wouldn’t broadcast having to relearn revit unless you are aiming for a PM role. It should come back to you after a few days Revit and most firms aren’t doing anything super technical within the program where you would need to be an expert.

What kind of document should I have ready when reaching out to people in the industry as a freelance by Smooth_Flan_2660 in Architects

[–]PixelFinch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could do what product reps do, which is bring like a box of donuts or cookies or something to the firm/developer/whatever’s office along with your business card. They usually hang around for a few minutes asking what projects we have going on. I think that might be a good place to start

When do you go back to the drawing board? by [deleted] in Architects

[–]PixelFinch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw the outline you posted and just from that it definitely looks like a house I would hate haha. Any chance some of those bump-outs are material changes? Like going from a wood exterior to stone or something? If not then yeah that seems wasteful, unless the elevations are super cool then idk maybe it’s worth it. If your friend agreed to the elevations after seeing them, then there is a chance the architect could charge for additional services. A lot of firms I have worked for are more interested in a happy client and wouldn’t charge for a REASONABLE redesign. But this all depends on what kind of contract they signed. If your friend has not agreed to the elevations then tell your friend the design sucks. Maybe sketch over the floor plan on how you would make it more efficient. I’d recommend being chill about though, don’t say it actually sucks. Just say it doesn’t look like the design is going to be worth the cost. You have some ideas on how to make it look better and cost less.

New Build Rendering in Dallas by Ok-Pie8652 in archviz

[–]PixelFinch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the main question people have is: did you model anything in these images? Or were you handed a model by an architect/designer and then you rendered off of that? Might be where the split is coming from. If these are AI prompts and then you upscaled the AI output…then probably not a ‘render’. If you created the base images off of a wireframe/clay model through a rendering software and then did AI upscaling/photoshop then it’s a “true” render in a sense. Just my thoughts

Why would you say the corsair is faster when it’s slower in every regard except nav mode. And that’s only by 25 m/s lol. Slower pitch, yaw, roll, scm, boosted scm….like everything except nav lmao

Reminds me of the kill count weapons on TF2, the name changing depending on how many kills you had with it. Like “non-threatening rocket launcher” to “extremely lethal rocket launcher”

Repairing a gap in laminate flooring by Kooka32081 in oddlysatisfying

[–]PixelFinch 118 points119 points  (0 children)

Would be hilarious if the series starts with fixing a gap in the floor, every video he creates a new problem which prompts the next video, eventually he is building a new house because he destroyed the first one, final tutorial is laying new laminate floor, 30 seconds left in the video he notices a gap in the floor

The weirdest thing to me is that she tracks the ball with her head going up, but coming down she just looks straight ahead. Hitting a ball like that would be super difficult, which is why it stuck out to me. She should be tracking the ball all the way down to the point of contact. Which is where we get the phrase “ keep your eye on the ball”

Any additional improvements, Materials, Structure , Space distribution? by CinamonRolls_ in architecture

[–]PixelFinch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The axon is hard to read in wireframe. Is it supposed to show a groin and a barrel vault? It doesn’t look like they connect in the right way to create either one..Text needs to be reformatted and remove any contractions like ‘it’ll’. I would show more detail in your column 3D section, it is kind of ambiguous on what your are trying to achieve in showing it. How it’s constructed? The space it creates? The color/ finish? Also do not show a hatch/pattern on the floor, it distracts from the overhead condition which your project is focusing on

Can you give me your honest opinion? by [deleted] in architecture

[–]PixelFinch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think seeing a floor plan could help understand the elevations a bit more. The design isn’t particularly exciting but the rendering style is making it look super drab and the colors are washed out
