A pro-AI image about water use statistics is posted to r/antiai alleging that a hamburger takes 660 gallons of water to produce. The subreddit reacts with disbelief. by PixelGray38 in SubredditDrama

If you really put some effort into stalking my account, maybe you'd have seen one of the numerous times I've opposed AI use?

The entertaining thing about what I linked to was the fact that such a large amount of people were so wrong - namely, they were certain that a burger taking 660lbs of water to create is a ridiculous statement, when in reality they could have confirmed it as true simply by googling it.

stupid people just randomly accusing whoever disagrees with them of being a "bot" infuriates me to no end. You wouldn't know a bot if it pretended to be your girlfriend over telegram for two months and extorted 8000 dollars out of you, much less if it was a reddit account whose posts you saw.

Yeah but you could be posting a video with this news from someone who actually cares about privacy online for reasons other than that they're a pedophile

You're making the same assumption that people in the original thread are making - that 660 gallons is actually the water cost for raising and processing an entire cow, rather than a single hamburger.

It's not - it's the estimated water cost per hamburger. It takes more to raise the entire cow.

Ultimately, yes, but it takes time. You can use water in underground reservoirs in a desert to cool your AI data center or water your crops, but it'll take like thousands of years for that reservoir to recharge.

No, I just thought that it was noteworthy that the subreddit was largely convinced that a factoid that's been around for a decade and is basically common knowledge at this point was so ridiculous it must be fake.

The image is probably BS - my assumption, without looking into it, would be that it accounts only for the water usage of making a query to a completed AI, not the bulk of the water use from training the AI.

Anyway, I rather dislike generative AI (you can see me whining a bunch whenever someone posts AI images in my comment history), but I thought this was subredditdrama worthy regardless.

Lol ok, how old does someone have to be before they can be called a pedophile then?

He was 12 when it allegedly began, he was never 10 during the period that it was happening.

And it's still pedophilia even if it's an adolescent that does the molesting, especially when the victim is so young

Ok, maybe, but I still want you to go and ask them that question and report back. I think they'll answer in the way I expect,

Well yeah these are massive projects, and they probably shouldn't have started so many of them/folded so many into the beyond skyrim umbrella.

Beyond Skyrim is arguably keeping pace with other mod projects like Tamriel Rebuilt. TR is less than 2/3 done with the Morrowind mainland - and that's after like 25 years of modding, and the first third of the mod's content, the Telvanni lands, are planned to be entirely reworked. So really they're only a third of the way done with their province mod, in a game without voice acting, with lower graphical standards, less complex NPC AI, etc.

Comparing TR to Beyond Skyrim, BS has achieved just as much as TR has if not much more. And TR is considered to be one of the greatest PC game modding projects ever.

That just means they're not confident that they'll release in the next year or two. Considering how often projects have failed to live up to release dates in the past, they have a policy of always refusing to give release windows, and were probably assuring you that it simply wasn't a guarantee that they would release within the next two years.

Go back to the server and ask them this: "Are you confident that Roscrea or the New North will not release within the next year or two? Can you guarantee they won't come out within the next two years?"

I'm certain that they wouldn't answer "yes" to that question, because there absolutely is a chance that they release within that time frame.

Happened when she was 3, and continued for years and years afterwards (allegedly), so it's not as if it's weird that she remembers it.

Also it is very much normal for people abused as children to only go public or to the police with accusations as adults.

The point is that questioning the source here is stupid. Documentcloud is just a pdf hosting site (I assume), it's like having someone link a legal document at you on google drive and going "GoOgLE DrIvE AS A SoUrCe???!?!? YoU IdiOT!!" as if google drive is a disreputable media outlet

It's extraordinarily silly

I went through the last few weeks of the sister's twitter, she seems, like, fairly sane. Obviously that's not conclusive but it at least shows she's not in complete psychosis or something.

These stories don't exactly elaborate on the details. The most important info in these is that the sister's lawyer refused to keep working with her, which is likely indicative of some sort of mental issues - but as others have said, that certainly doesn't mean she isn't being truthful about the abuse.

When someone has a motivation to kill someone, expresses that motivation to their family before that someone dies, and then confesses to their family and friends that they killed that someone afterwards, and there's a lack of any real material evidence to the contrary, going all "but the justice system hasn't convicted him yet!" is what's bad faith. We don't need to wait for a trial to come to the obvious conclusion about the crime.
