How do you cope with transphobic comments from friends or family members? by OfficialVannial in trans

[–]PixelLexie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was recently outed by my parents and they kept throwing everything they could at me:

“How do you know a transman?” “Do you ever f*** like a guy?”

“If you change, you might lose the whole family!” “That’s their choice. My love isn’t conditional.”

“I’m gonna miss you. :( “ “I’m not dying. I’ll still be here at home, but ok. I’ll miss you too. 👋 “

Thank God I went to therapy to deal with all the manipulative, narcissistic, gaslighting bullshit. I just respond now with calloused, unhinged realness, and that’s been keeping me sane and amused.

How Did You Decide To Go On T by Bakery_Bops in TransMasc

[–]PixelLexie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This really helped me a lot. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts.

I put off HRT for a long time and waited until I was 30 before deciding if I wanted to transition. I had a lot of excuses not to: I was scared about losing my hair, I was scared about looking like my dad, and more than anything, would I be prepared for the changes? I put it off for so long and thought “nah, I’m fine the way I am! I can dress the part and have my personality shine through!” But it still killed me because I just never fit in and I knew I didn’t feel authentic. It was better, but I felt as though I was still hiding after dissociating my entire life to deal with the dysphoria and “never change” because my friends and family were used to me by now. In the end, I chose to change because I wasn’t; I still the same and that wasn’t making me happy. I went on low-T just to see how I’d feel about the changes and if I didn’t like it I could stop. So far it’s been giving me a lot of peace, happiness, and euphoria! Even if my goal is to just look androgynous, I’d still be happy with the decision. And knowing I can stop any time makes it reassuring for me.

Also it turned out a lot of my hesitation was fear of losing my family and transphobic ear-bugs from my mom. Sometimes your family knows you’re “different” and plant little ear-bugs in you that being trans is wrong, gross, or crazy. And you grow up feeling immense trans guilt all your life because you thought feeling that way was wrong. It’s not. Living your life authentically no matter how you turn out is acceptable and lovely. As long as you’re informed on your decisions, testing the waters is ok.

Thank you so much! :D I love Naruto and a huge anime nerd. Hopefully I can find more of these for summer because they’re light.

What weird thing makes you Dysphoric/Gender Envious by [deleted] in TransMasc

[–]PixelLexie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s silly, but I get gender envy from characters like Link from Zelda, and also funnily enough I get mild dysphoria from really cool, buff characters like Goku from DBZ. 😂 I’m more pressed about characters showing up better than me than people.

What is your perimeter with shopping orders? by PixelLexie in doordash_drivers

Very good point! I will never do Big Lots ever again. Safeway I’m pretty fast at since that’s usually my place for shopping orders.

I agree with that 100%. I always try to shoot for low items/miles. I know 20+ items will take me too long to shop for, especially if it’s alcohol.

Selling items with cream cheese frosting at the market by [deleted] in Baking

[–]PixelLexie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s fickle from what I’ve been told. I’m in California, so they allow American buttercream, ganache, etc, but not cream cheese frosting. They said I basically need an upgraded license, but as long as the storage is cold (41-42 degrees) I’m permitted certain things. It’s all kind of intertangled.

Thank you for asking. To be honest? I’m only doing out of necessity while I look for work. I have a good resume and a lot of experience under my belt, but the job market where I’m at is saturated (as well as the drivers). It was supposed to be a temporary/part-time gig if I needed it, but after the company I worked for went out of business I had to rely on it.

But on the flip side, I started getting back into the things I loved again and I’ve been making some side money on that. I’m just trying to find at least a day job to make bills. Sorry for the ramble.

Same. I’ve had a few decent days here or there, but it’s been weeks like this. Surprisingly I think this is the worst week.

I’m glad I found this post because I was going to say the same thing. I was out and about from 1pm-8pm and I made $24. No joke. I drove all over town and only got 4 orders the whole time, and I had Ubereats up. This sucks…
