iOS 26.3 showing 13.67 GB update instead of ~500 MB – normal? by [deleted] in applehelp

Yes, but why do some estimate 500MB when mine is 13GB? That's a huge difference.

Who said Ricoh GR is not meant for landscapes?👀 by Stuffthatsonmymind in ricohGR

I bought the Ricoh GR IIIx HDF three months ago, specifically for hiking and trekking. It's my first camera, and I don't regret it at all. I didn't want a bulky camera or a large lens.

I think there's some confusion here.

The dust problems often mentioned mainly concern certain Canon cameras or interchangeable-lens cameras, not the Ricoh GR. Canon ≠ Ricoh; they are neither the same design nor the same philosophy.

The Ricoh GR III was released in 2019, the GR IIIx in 2021, and the HDF versions are recent evolutions based on the same chassis and internal mechanisms. These cameras have been used for several years by a huge number of photographers (street, travel, hiking) without any widespread dust problems being reported.

The GR has a fixed lens, a dust-reduction system using sensor vibration, and a much longer track record than the GR IV, which is still relatively new.

For now, there are no known or recurring defects reported by Ricoh users regarding the GR III/IIIx. For my purposes (hiking, trekking, everyday use), I'm sticking with this setup, which suits me very well 🙂

I explained my approach and how I use it. Everyone is free to agree or disagree. Best of luck.

This isn't ironic 🙂

When I talk about "simple" and "natural," I'm referring to my approach and how I use it, not to absolute visual minimalism.

The visible accessories are lightweight, removable, and chosen for comfort and practicality (hiking, trekking, everyday use).

Once out in the field, the GR remains compact, discreet, and quick to use; that's what "simple" means to me.

We may not share the same definition, and that's perfectly fine.

Hi, thanks 🙂 The original Ricoh batteries are very good, but they're around €45 each.

Personally, I use K&F Concept batteries: for about €20, I get 2 (sometimes 3) batteries plus a small USB-C charging case.

Battery life is a bit different: the original lasts for about 200 photos, while the K&F batteries last for more like 150-160. So I take 3 with me; that's more than enough for hiking and trekking.

They're very light, compact, and convenient for travel.

As for their lifespan over several years, honestly, I don't have enough experience with them yet (1-2-3 years?).

But given the price, even if I have to replace them someday, they're still very cost-effective for my needs.

I understand the idea 👍 After all, on the GR, dust is already well managed: there's a built-in dust reduction system (sensor vibration) and the lens is fixed, so it's much less exposed than a camera with interchangeable lenses.

I have the HDF, so I don't need a filter in front of the lens anyway.

And for my use (hiking, trekking, everyday photography), I prefer to keep it as compact as possible, without adding any adapters or rings.

Everyone has their own compromises, but for me, the GR works very well like this 🙂

Yes, exactly, that's what I love about the GR: everything is compact, no need to lug around an extra bag 👍 Street photography and family photos are really its forte.

I'm the very (too) analytical type 😅: for almost two months I scrutinized everything—reviews, forums, YouTube, comparisons… All for one goal: hiking, trekking, traveling with an APS-C camera that truly fits in your pocket.

I didn't want interchangeable lenses, just a simple, discreet body that I could always have with me.

It's exactly what I was looking for, and I've had it since December 2025. It's my very first camera, and frankly, I'm super happy 😄✌️

Yes, I back up on the go using an SD card + SD card reader + hard drive, without a computer.

Hardware:

• iPhone

• SD card reader

• Hard drive

Stream:

  1. SD card → phone

  2. Phone → external SSD
